I am pleased.

I could never really get into Skies or Arcadia. Probably because the battles were so fucking slow, and I heard the gamecube version had faster battle sequences, so damn.

I see it as more of a flawed masterpiece. Flaws include:
Random encounters
Slow battles
Loopers
LADDERS TAKE FOREVER TO CLIMB GOD DAMN
Broken battle system

Unfortunately, GRIMDARK sells more.

The high random encounter rate, various bullshit parts (terrible overworld, the tornado sea, black rift, grinding to get money for your base, etc) all threw it off for me.
Everyone said the game was supposed to get better, but it never did.
I wasted 20 hours of my life playing that game as well.
It was also one of the reasons I bought a fucking DC.
I am very disappointed.
That being said I love the characters.

What I did was, I was searching around on cex.co.uk, and noticed they had one copy of Skies of Arcadia Legends online selling for £22. Heard it was a good game and bought it quickly knowing very little about it.

Best impulse buy ever. Most of the shit on that site is overpriced as fuck but a few things (especially Gamecube games) sell for really good prices there.

I'm 10 hours into the game and so far I like what I'm playing.

pros:
easy to learn combat system
exploration
characters/story

cons:
graphical style

A bit indifferent towards the soundtrack, I always hear people praising it but it's yet to win me over.

I really liked SoA from what I played (I stopped after I kept getting killed by the chick and her dog...can't recall their names....), but I had a good time with it. Gave me a real FFV vibe, in that it's a guy just cruising around exploring shit.
