I thought it was pretty awesome for one. Apart from the clipping effects and one pet hate of mine:

Sprites where you can see the pixels but effects in full fancy graphics. Really bugs me. I'd try and get the game fully functional and tweaked before making more to the game. If you can get everything right before the major content comes in, then it should all slot in almost seamlessly.
