The story is a poor attempt at being "deep" or symbolic.

The endings are shit, all of them.

The entire game is 3 phase levels: Explore, Run, Talk.

Only One kind of enemy in the game.

    Godawful dialogue.

    Unresponsive Controls.

Just got the game today, and I haven't finished it, but the controls are really annoying. I shake off an enemy, and then Henry (Harry? I forget his name) decides he doesn't want to turn slightly to the left so I can avoid getting hit again.

Also, do you mean that those annoying fuckers are the one and only enemy type in the whole damn game?

Their appearance can still change as you play through the game, depending on your choices.

For instance, apparently if you stare at the posters of woman somewhere and answer questions in the test relating to sexual activity the monsters will look more feminine, breasts and shit.

My first time I too had bitches, then at some point they started dividing up into pieces and looking like they were put through a meat grinder and then they started getting these Sauron crown things. Second time they have these freaky crosses for heads then dissected again.

They always look that way after Lisa dies. I want to figure out how to save her myself but I just can't seem to do it bawwwwww Lisa why ;_; . Also, how do I not get fucking goth schoolgirl Dahlia, do I have to lie completely to Kaufmann and tell him I was a slutty jock in high school? What happens if you tell him you were a slut and a virgin? If no one's done it I'll try on playthrough three.

Don't listen to OP this is exactly the game I was expecting, he either got it without knowing anything about it beforehand or somehow deluded himself into thinking that it would be like SH 1-3. SH will never be like that again, get over it. Play it alone in the dark in an old empty house that is the way it was meant to be.

I FFFFFFFFFFFF'd. Then I laughed some when I saw the pink car as Cybil took me away. I actually laughed a lot, some of Harry's lines are so fucking absurd ("I do love my ABCs" "Cammie...nice." . Then contrast that with the car crash or chasing the fucking shadow in the tunnel of love or I LOVE MY DADDY where I fucking shit myself.

    >>44208328

One of Kaufmann's little psych exercises is for you to color in a picture of your idea of a happy family. He gives no indication at first, but immediately afterward you go to Harry's house (or is it?) in-game and everything you colored actually looks that way in the game down to characters' clothing, car color, drapes, roof, etc.

Harry still talks to Cheryl at the therapists, but your choices affect how she reacts to Harry, whether or not she makes up with Dahlia, and the end video.

No, I played on normal or whatever. I think it was nice that the monsters were now, well, actual threats like you said. But what I didn't like was how capable the protagonist was, sure it fit his background, you could even say it was to compensate for the more aggressive monsters, either way I never felt scared or paranoid or nerve racked. The moment I knew something was near me I would brace myself for Rambo time.

I got the good ending, (Well, I mean, I didn't make Harry a cheating douche or anything, didn't look at any girlie photos or nothin')

Lisa died (Is it even possible to save her? I gave her the right pills, and she didn't say anything about the number of them)

Fucked Dahlia (If you notice, she turns into a ice-statue of older-Dahlia afterwards)

Cybil was a bitch anyway (Seriously, Harry lost his daughter, does she help? no, it's OUT OF MY JURISDICTION SIR HAVE YOU BEEN DRINKING)

Eh, I liked it. You guys must not enjoy having fun or something.

So guys, on my third playthrough, I got to that bar across the street from the 52 diner. I met this bartender lady instead of Cybil, will she be important later, or is she just like the couple who lived in Harry's old house?

So /v/, I've never played a Silent Hill game. Which one should I start with?

I'm starting to get the feeling that /v/ hates EVERY game released in the past 5 years just because it was released recently.

Shattered Memories is alright, go with SH2 if you got a PS2.

SH2 is still the best in the series..

The original or the second game. You could play 3 first but it would be more enjoyable if you had played the original first but it's not necessary. I wouldn't recommend playing 4, Origins or Homecoming first though because they're generally not well-received by the fans. Not saying that they're bad games, they're just not games you should be getting you first impressions from.

    I got that ending too.
I dunno about you guys, but I felt like this game had the best dialogue and voice acting, which just pissed me off more when a scene with another character would get interrupted by everything freezing and then running my ass off.

Ignore the faggots that say 4 is bad. They're nerds who wanted SO DEEP protagonist rehashes for the rest of time. 4 tries to portray Silent Hill from a different angle, and it succeeds more than it fails. Will you like it? Maybe, maybe not. I had fun with it though, and if you're not an elitist fucktard, you probably will, too

Just.. for the love of God, find a spoiler free walkthrough that will tell you where all the Swords of Obedience are so you don't have to have a fucking ghost chase you forever and ever

Guy you're quoting here, I love 4 but out of the entire series it's the least like Silent Hill in my opinion. Great game though. If he does decide to play 4 first he should keep what I said in mind and not expect the same from the other titles.

I got same ending, some monsters, and same Dahlia as you.
I was kind of confused, so basically Cheryl finally got over that her father died, and that's it? Her relationship with her mother didn't seem strained at the end, either.

It kind of feels like a 'good' ending, but then why was it so sad?

Cause her dad is still dead, man.

And going by the good ending, he was a pretty cool dad too.

I suppose so. How many endings does this game have, do we know yet?
