I'm getting a PS3 probably next week, mostly for blu-ray and games that are coming out for it soon. However, I'm really looking forward to the PSOne Classics. I have some in mind, but I'm not familiar with a lot of the ones I've seen listed as available.

    Recommendations?

And for the love of god, inb4 "PS3 has no gaems"

OP, if you don't consider getting this and MGS4 please don't buy a PS3.

I actually played Twin Snakes on the Gamecube a few years back and didn't fall in love with it like a lot of people have. Then again, it was with the GAMECUBE CONTROLLER. Think it'd be worth a play through with the controller it was designed for?

It's basically the same game and the controls are roughly the same, I doubt the differences are enough to make it that much more enjoyable.

The shtastic controls on the GC version (along with the rape of the music) are what put me off, so do try the original on an emulator at least.

Not only is it a great game, but it also has the Jet Moto 1 tracks with the sweet JM2 controls.

Demon's Souls (Awesome RPG with cool mechanics)
Disgaea 3 (If you like SRPGs and or anime stuff)
Folklore (A lot like Lost Kingdoms on the Gamecube)
Infamous (Didn't play it too long, might be more of a rental for most)
Killzone 2 (Solid FPS, controls may feel stiff if you play a lot of CoD)
LBP (fun times with friends, nice to have around if you ever have a few people over)
MGS4 (Pretty good movie but you won't want to watch it all in 1 sitting)
Ratchet & Clank ToD/CiT (CiT was my first R&C and I really enjoyed it so I bought ToD, if you haven't played them before try one of them out)
Uncharted 1&2 (Fun adventure games that combine many different game play mechanics seamlessly with awesome Indiana Jones style plot)

I will drop the ten dollars and get MGS I suppose. I'll get it another try, since last time I played it was *not* on the huge TV I've gotten since.

Also, any other PS3 exclusive downloadable stuff? I've had an XBox for a few years now and tend to DL things on that and didn't think I had any need for a PS3 since so many things are multiplatform.

Also have a Wii but hacked it to play ROMs because WII HAS NO GAEMS

    >PSOne classics

    Peter Pan: Adventures in Neverland
Lilo and Stitch: Trouble in Paradise
Party Time with Winnie the Pooh
    A Bug’s Life
    James Pond: Roboc-

Oh, wait. You're talking about the US PSN PSOne store, aren't you? How embarrassing, so sorry, don't mind me.

Seriously, all I want is fucking Final Fantasy Tactics for my PS3. Is that too much to ask, Europe?
    >> Anonymous 12/05/09(Sat)23:15 No.43902523
Don't forget the ps3 can play any ps1 disc, so if there's a game you want to play that's not on psn and you can find a hard copy you can still play it.

I just bought chrono cross to play on my ps3 the other day, since I had never played through it before, but I really liked chrono trigger.
    >> Anonymous 12/05/09(Sat)23:16 No.43902573
Everybody, thanks for the recommendations. I really appreciate it. But just so you know, I have little to no interest in shooters for the most part. I know that's what the draw is for many PS3 owners, but not me. Really the only exclusive games I'm *definitely* getting are Little Bit Planet and The Last Guardian when it comes out. TLG is actually one of the few games I was going to buy a system for anyway.

Whuh? I thought the PS3 was not backwards compatible with PSOne, and only a few with the PS2 but they discontinued it.

    >>43902617
It's backwards compatible with the psone still, it emulates it, but it does a good job at it, you're basically just paying for roms when you download a psone game from psn.
    >> Anonymous 12/05/09(Sat)23:19 No.43902733

Sorry, I'm a bit confused. I know you download the games to play through the Playstation Network, but can it also read PSOne discs?
