I recently got my hand on a PS2, I barely got into the PS2 even though I heard it was really good.

    Recommend me some good games.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/09(Thu)23:22 No.41151444
    MGS2+3
    DMC1+3

Anything else I'd recommend would be JRPG territory.

you basically just have a big gay paperweight, OP. just toss it or try to get like 4 or 5 bucks for it at gamestop maybe. once you've played current-gen games you will take one look at the opening screen of ANY ps2 game and INSTANTLY vomit. guaranteed.

I like all game genres, I am not picky. Go ahead and mention the JRPG's.

I still play regular nes, snes, genesis, 64, and ps1 games fairly regularly...

    Some good content out there.

0/10 seriously, at least try a little

    Ico
    Zone of the Enders 2
    Shadow of the Colossus
    Okami
    God of War 1/2
Guilty Gear XX (if you like Fightan gaems)

    60 GB PS3 was here,

    80 GB PS3 w/shitty emu is a loser.

OP: Right now there's a lot of "packs" going on with all the good games that graced the system.

I strongly, strongly recommend Metal Gear Solid; they have an "Essentials" collection that is an ABSOLUTE must-buy. MGS1 is great, MGS2 is okay, and MGS3 is the best of the series. You will love them all.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/09(Thu)23:28 No.41151745
Okami, Shadow of the Colossus are both lovely games.
Try Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, and Sly Cooper. They're the big three platformers for the PS2, and you're bound to like one of them.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/09(Thu)23:29 No.41151758
    >>41151488
    FFX
    Dragon Quest 8
Xenosaga Episodes 2&3 (prepare to near-ragequit Episode 2)
Shadow Hearts 2 (1 & 3 are meh at best, but still worth playing kinda)
    Wild Arms 5.

And no matter what anyone else says, avoid the hell out of Persona3 and 4. They're both pretty bad games, though Persona4 is slightly less bad.
Ditto Kingdom Hearts. KH2 is pretty terribad, and KH1 is only slightly less bad.

I also just remembered Shadow of the Colossus.

Oh get capcom vs marvel if u can :p
    >> Anonymous 10/29/09(Thu)23:31 No.41151881
God of War 1/2, Psi-Ops: Mind Gate Conspiracy, PRINCE OF PERSIA: SANDS OF TIME, I did like Jak 2 and 3 so I will put that in there as well, The Suffering, and if you don't mind very short games but willing to have a cartoonish art style with some fun game play then Mark of Kri. Mark of Kri is over before you know it, but it is a fun game to play.

    As regards Xenosaga:

Only attempt if you really enjoy science fiction. The first game is basically a really long interactive movie with a badass combat system, where there's combat at all; yes, there's grinding, but the story is engaging and the characters are interesting.

Episode Two is...well, the worst thing to happen since Disc two of Xenogears. But you can work your way through it.

Honestly, I'd say you could jump right into Episode Three and not miss anything. It's one of the best jRPGs on the system, and a great game by its own merit. The artwork and character style is top-notch, music is beautiful, and the story is wrapped up rather nicely. Combat system is the best of all of them.

Stick with Xenosaga for the characters, man, it's really a great fiction.

If you get this, remember you need a PS1 memory card for MGS1.

OP, here is a valuable link:
    http://vsrecommendedgames.wikia.com/wiki/Playstation_2

Because particularly with something like the PS2 there are just so many games and most of us have played it so long that a lot of them blur together and can be hard to remember until we see the title, then we're like HOLY FUCK, REPLAYIN, but it's hard to get everything in a thread like list. So there is a compiled list of suggestions, and for a lot of other platforms too.

For example, basically everything from Shin Megami Tensei is great and now I need to go replay. Also Fatal Frame 2, although the Xbox one was better since it came later and included a ton of extra content.

Well, opinions and such. I loathed Ep3, didn't like how things went after they had ditched the original team tbh. But I agree it's still worth playing through the series if you like that kind of thing.
