So I'm writing a short editorial on Australia's ban on Left 4 dead 2 and how heavy video game censorship should be a thing of the past.

I need some points to build on. Care to share?
    >> Anonymous 10/25/09(Sun)20:54 No.40852463
Point out that films are more violent.

Honestly adding another video game rating level would solve all of Australia's problems.
    >> Transparent Lex Luthor !vxLOLuYpRE 10/25/09(Sun)20:55 No.40852527
Explain how video game violence doesn't create violent children, and how it's actually the other way around. Violent children are drawn to violent video games, and it most cases it gives them an outlet to relieve their violent tendencies on, as opposed to, say, taking a gun to school and shooting up kids.

    Something along those lines.

I have pointed out that films are considered less for children than games are, and that Australia has allowed films like Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.. thanks though

Try making the point that just like films, not all games are for children.
    >> Anonymous 10/25/09(Sun)20:59 No.40852757
Point how England's fucking Queen is the one banning vidya games from Australia.
    >> Anonymous 10/25/09(Sun)21:00 No.40852807
Pixels are pixels. Any blood that's generated is fake and thus should never be banned. It doesn't hurt anybody because it isn't real.

If 'video game violence' exists, why doesn't "cinema violence' exist?

Explain that a majority of gamers are in their 30s. And that the reason why children manageto get their hands on violent video games are due to negligence on the parents part. And just because little timmy managed to get his hands on Fallout 3, doesn't mean the rest of us gamers have to pay the penalty.
    >> Anonymous 10/25/09(Sun)21:01 No.40852873

    >> Anonymous of College Park,MD 10/25/09(Sun)21:02 No.40852908
Make another point that any politician that objects to adding the R18 category to video games because they are concerned about young children playing these games are really concerned about their own children playing these games.

Not the children in the state where the politician serves.
    >> Anonymous 10/25/09(Sun)21:03 No.40852974
Be sure to point out that people have been committing murder hundreds of years before video games, heavy metal or violent movies.

Rather than allowing for acceptance and adaptation, censorship promotes a society of "out of sight, out of mind".
    >> Mr. Wall !!o6ymz5JfR4L 10/25/09(Sun)21:03 No.40852982
Add how movies use real people yet video games involve computer generated objects which arn't real and are fake.
    >> Anonymous 10/25/09(Sun)21:03 No.40852995
    It's a fucking game.

Ignore this one and make the point that any politician that does this is just catering to their voterbase and not to positive development.
