So, which MGS game should I play first? I was thinking about going in release order, but then I thought about going in timeline order to cause the least amount of brain-strain.

    There's nothing complicated about MGS.
Also to get MGS 2's message you have to play MGS beforehand. Otherwise it will make no sense.

So, uh, what I am saying is play them any order you want but make sure you play 1 before 2.

    Alright, release order it is.

/v/ has been helpful. I am worried.
    >> Anonymous 10/20/09(Tue)17:10 No.40472937
Play 1, then call it a day. That's all you need and/or is worth knowing.
    >> Anonymous 10/20/09(Tue)17:11 No.40473011
No reason to play in anything but release order, I suppose. Playing MGS3 won't really make the others any clearer.

    MGS 3, Then MGS 1, 2, and finally 4.

This does not count the Metal Gear games on the PSP.

Well, I'd like to play all of them. I played a demo of MGS3 and thought it was pretty cool. I also want to see the GREATEST MOVIE FOR THE PS3, MGS4.
    >> Anonymous 10/20/09(Tue)17:12 No.40473083
I'd honestly go for release order. You get the information in the way that it's "supposed" to be revealed and you pick up on ALL the many many references to the other games in MGS3.

In fact, I'd almost say release order will cause the least amount of brain strain.

    Play the original MGS1.
    Then MGS3.
    Then Twin Snakes.
    Then MGS2.
    Then MGS4.

    Go in release order.

It makes it so much better. Trust me.

Also, play PO if you want. It isn't important.
    >> Anonymous 10/20/09(Tue)17:15 No.40473243
Play MGS4, then MGS2, then the original metal gear, then post pictures of your cock, then play MGS3, then one

Then stop asking /v/ for advice

Unfortunately, I won't be able to play twin snakes, unless I find SOME WAY of playing it on the computer. If only there were SOME WAY I could play GameCube games on my computer!
    >> Anonymous 10/20/09(Tue)17:15 No.40473281
play by release, because you'll probably wish you could aim in first person view when you play MGS among other things

    >>40473022
    No no no no no.
After 3, 1 and 2 will feel weird and wrong. Play release order.

    In order:

    MGS 3
    Metal Gear
    Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake
MGS 1 (or Twin Snakes for GC)
    MGS 2
    MGS 4

Release order is the way to go, shit gets epic as fuck.
