Can we get a stereoscopic thread going?

Apparently you can alt+f1 to take stereoscopic screenshots in games, or so I heard. Haven't tried it yet.

    hey dumb asses
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stereoscopic

think about how we perceive depth
    we have two eyes
our brain takes information from both simultaneously
'depth' to us is the difference of these two images

a stereoscopic image is just simulating what our eyes do
by making your left eye look at the left image, nad your right eye on the right image, we're faking our brain into seeing depth on a 2d surface

I had this problem. Keep working at it by blurring your vision and then opening your eyes wider.

Defocus as much as you can, like seeing four pictures instead of two. Then open your eyes wider until you see the middle one clearly.

If it tries to go back into normal vision, go back to blurring until you can get it right. Blur as much as you can before you fix into the middle.

    HOW TO MAKE THESE WORK

Look at one of these images (let's say, one with a tower). Start crossing your eyes. You'll see the two versions of the tower move towards eachother. As soon as they're on top of eachother, you'll have it.

    It is, retard.
If you're not seeing a clear, 3D image, then you're doing it wrong.
The pictures aren't exactly the same.
One of them is altered ever so slightly so that you trick your eyes into perceiving depth when you combine the two pictures.

    1) Touch the image with your finger.

    2) Keep focusing on our finger, and move it slowly towards your face. Somehow pay attention to what's happening to the image, while STILL keeping the focus on your finger

    3) There will be a point where the images are out of focus in the correct way that they overlap

    4) At this point, transfer your attention back to the central image formed by the overlap. Your eyes should lock onto it and bring it back into sharp focus, wihout losing the overlapping.

    5) This overlap image is now in 3D.

You're retarded. Look, everyone can cross their eyes slightly by looking at their finger six inches from their face. But not everyone can do it whenever they fucking want.

Me, and many many many others, will never be able to see any 3D in stereoscopic images, because guess what, our brain knows how to fucking FOCUS ON WHAT WE'RE LOOKING AT. If I cross my eyes and try to look at the pictures, my eyes adapt. It's a muscular reflex, for fuck's sake.

Can't you just hold your finger there, then sort of transfer your attention past your finger to the picture, without actually looking directly at the picture, so as not to break the focus? Like when you look at something out of the corner of your eye.

No. My eyes uncross. It doesn't take any effort either. I hold my finger six inches from my face. If I focus on my finger, I vaguely see one image in the background. If I try to focus on the image, my eyes immediately uncross. I can go back and forth like this ten times a second with no strain on my eyes but I can't for the life of me keep them crossed while I'm looking at the picture.

I like to think of it as my brain working properly. You know, allowing me to view what I'm looking at clearly without having to order it to uncross my eyes.

In order to focus on anything, you have to cross your eyes. The closer the thing is, the more you have to cross them. Everyone who isn't blind or retarded can do this.

Some are suggesting that being able to do this on cue (ie isolating the muscles and doing it without a subject) is some sort of skill that is not inherent to all humans. This is ridiculous. Its part of how your eyes work, anyone can cross their eyes to make a funny face or focus on something in front of them.
