To
the OP: Putting in applications to retail stores and not following up
with the hiring managers is like throwing a steak on a grill and never
returning to check on the steak nor turn off the grill -- big mistake.
Jobs
love to see interested candidates who follow up with their
applications. If you want to land a job quickly I'd suggest looking
into businesses that are EXPANDING instead of DOWNSIZING. Depending on
your skill sets you could land an O.K. white collar desk job if your
parents are really harking on you to get a job. The best possible
situation is to get a job that includes medical benefits, which is
possible to find but only if you look in the right places.
If you want a job I would suggest looking at your local Employment Bureau (Google Department of Labor for your state).
You
can also try your retail stores (WalMart, Sears, etc) but try to aim
for places that are staying in business and not struggling (movie
theaters, food stores, home furnishing and supply, etc).
There's
also looking on websites via Monster.com, Careerbuilder.com, and
Craigslist.com (yes yes, Craigslist is sometimes legitimate). Try also
temporary and part-time/full-time staffing agencies in your area. |
