    10 KB Disabled Gamer Thread 10/03/09(Sat)16:17 No.39262957
Do you have a disability? Does it affect your gaming habits? Feel free to share.

I was in a work related accident when a nail gun was shot at me. It hits me in my right eye, just above the eyeball where your eyebrow sits. It didn't penetrate deep, but it damaged the muscles there permanently. As a result of this, I sued the company for 2.5 million (improperly training staff), but at the cost of being unable to move my right eye much. I can look side to side, but with that eye I cannot look up or down. I can see fine, just I need to cover that eye if I look up with the other because it gives me headaches. I wear an eyepatch almost all of the time.

    Share your stories.

Puzzle games where matching colors is important are very difficult for me

    i have fibromyalgia.
my entire body hurts 24/7 and mostly in the joints.
i can barely play for 20-30 minutes without my hands hurting badly.
yet i still play for hours without end, because sometimes it's better to get lost in the game than think about the pain

I forgot to mention how it affected my gaming, d'oh! I have to sit very close to the TV, even with the eyepatch on because it's difficult to make anything out now (have amblyopia in my left eye; the nail fucked my good eye), and playing games where you need a large field of vision (ie. FPS games, sports games) is difficult for me.

With that 2.5mill$ I invested 0.5million into Dell (which is doing good), put 1.5million into a savings account (never have to work again), and did some aimless spending with the rest.

I start jacking off, or atleast rubbing my dick whilst I play the vidya. Especially during cutscenes or while I'm busting for a piss. Either it's my ungodly urge to fuck all the time, or a low attention span.

Either way, the outcome is always fantastic.

Yes, this isn't a disability, but I consider it a handicap, lol.
    >> OP 10/03/09(Sat)16:30 No.39263625
    >>39263516

I don't know as I wasn't paying attention to anyone else. I was assembling a desk for a customer to load off. These nailguns are the ones without safety mechanisms (meaning they can be shot in the air). If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say the other employee pulled the trigger by mistake while it was in the air.

Cystic Acne, does that count? I mean, if I let it go untreated it can abscess into the muscle and eventually the blood stream or if it's on the face it can get to the brain. But that's only if I let it. Not that big of a deal other than I can never let another person see me naked and I have to keep a full beard to hide most of it.

Not a disability, but a condition. All my life I had alternating exotropia (can move each eye independently of each other at will). It's untreatable, but it doesn't really bother me. It's easy to screenlook and play at the same time.

Hell yeah, bro. I always have them synced up in public, but when I'm at home I multitask like a motherfucker. I had strabismus from birth, and from this alternating exotropia developed.

I have some badass astigmatism in my right eye. So I get multiple focal points in my eye. Which is pretty fucked up. Basically I see like 12 of the same object. So if I try to play something like an FPS, I suck big butts.

But. Back when I first got some glasses I went back to play some halo 2 online and kicked ass because I could actually see.
    >> Anonymous 10/03/09(Sat)16:38 No.39264101
    >>39263773

Actually, it is treatable, but the success rate isn't high. I have micro-exotropic strabismus, and had the procedure a few years ago. My right eye still drifts sometimes when looking at things in the distance, and before the operation my brain would automatically shut off that eye when it happened, but I had no idea until I started driving and couldn't gauge distances properly. Now, the eye still drifts but I don't think the brain shuts off the eye anymore, and it really fucks with my vision.

born partially deaf in both ears here.
    >> Anonymous 10/03/09(Sat)16:39 No.39264199
    >>39264101

My ophthalmologist told me that could center the eyes and the government would pay for it (fuck yeah Canada), but I'd lose some or all function in one or both of my eyes. The muscles are used to the way it is now, and repairing it would be fucking stupid.

    Anyways, congrats

Also, it's funny you mention your brain "shuts off one eye". I can see out both simultaneously (meaning my field of vision is diagonal instead of lateral). Kicks ass.

    I have near asthma.

I have it almost, but not quite, I have most of the symptoms and I've weak lungs, but I don't for example take medication. I'm allergic to all kinds of shit and they told me when I was a kid that I could get asthma growing older.

If I take a jog in cold weather I get a bronchitis. I've gotten it three times and each time went to a doctor and been diagnosed with it.

I've to breathe heavily and it's hard for me to breathe through my nose. I'm near underweight and fit so no problem there.

I'm also balding and I lactate too little bodily fluids, my skin's flaky and my eyes dry easily.
