He wears a rooster hat to remind him of his old pet, a magic chicken who had the power to summon objects from nowhere. One day, a regular fox managed to bite the chicken as he went out one day. Maxwell found him on the verge of death, but the chicken told him that he could help. He told Maxwell that he would have to collect special stars to create an elixir that would save him, and to aid him in his quest he imparted some of his power. He wears the hat to constantly remind him of his quest, and as the chicken cannot come with Maxwell he directs him using his headphones.

My story is someone came up with the idea of making a game about guy who can write anything he wants to solve puzzles and, while interesting, they realized there was no decent way to make that into a believable storyline, so they just didn't bother.

So now, Maxwell must collect all Starites and reunite the Princess' body.

Maxwell and his recently divorced mother lived in Harlem. His mother and father had tried to make things work again, but deep down inside he knew it was just for show so he wouldn't be more depressed. He now spends his days confined to a hospital bed while creating fantastic worlds he'll never visit and objects he'll never hold just to take his mind off the painful chemo therapy he has to suffer through weekly.
