Fallen Earth is going to be open later this month. It's a MMOFPS, and basically a ripoff of the Fallout games in terms of scenario, but it might be what you're looking for.

They did what roughly equates to an FPS MMO, it was called Planetside. It had other elements to it as well, but it controlled first-person-shooter style, and there's no auto-aim or lock-on bullshit.

It was fucking AWESOME but died due to lack of funding.

They also made a WWII FPS-MMO that did horribly because the game was terribly not fun.

We used to play doom on our 28.8 connections... what we have available is definitely able to handle this. There is not a lot of info that really needs to be sent through the internet, just who's moving, turning, and firing.
