I just picked up BB this afternoon.

I'm loving Ragna's playstyle. It feels a lot like Sol.

I was playing my girlfriend, and I got cursed almost immedietly. I had not idea what was going on and why and invisible blob was killing me with hundreds of bees.

Ragna is interesting in that despite being the main character, he's a fairly unconventional character in terms of playstyle.

He does have a lot of tools to work with, and is pretty much 5-5 across the board with few exceptions, but he's tied for the second lowest health in the game and his playstyle focuses on pure rushdown, and you have to rush to win.

I have run into turtling Ragna's before as Bang. They just stood back and waited for me to come to them. Then they would either use that weird punch that has priority over everything and juggle me in the air, or INFERNO DIVIDER. They never win, but I was still surprised to see this character stand still for as long as he did.

My biggest problem is that I get too predictable. I always try to go for the same BnB combos. I just want to learn some new tricks.

The other day, I was playing a Tager. I rushed him over and over again, catching him in combos again and again. He recovered after I had knocked him down and knew he was going for the 720, so I Blood Kain'd to dodge it.

Shit felt so awesome.

Mix it up a little, man. Jumping C > 5B > 6C > 5C > Hades Gauntlet or whatever. It catches a lot of people off guard, although sometimes they'll get smart and anti-air you after awhile.

People don't use their jumps. Throw out grabs because you have nothing to fucking lose by throwing them out. Back off to bait their shit. Learn more combos.

Also you shouldn't have Blood Kain'd. That's impressive, but there's safer options

Ragna is kind of a boring character, in my opinion.

Here's a problem I have. I know that he uses 6C for his launcher and I do that, too, but I can never seem to rush forward as fast as he does. The most I can do with a 6C is Inferno Divider or Gauntlet Hades. Is there something special you have to do to move that fast after 6C? I try double tapping forward, but it never seems to be fast enough to land a 6A like he does.

I've only got about... 15 different combos worked out right now. My problem is that in the heat of a fight, I can't work out in my brain to do stuff like 5B -> 6A -> 5C -> 5D (1 hit) -> Gauntlet Hades -> 5B -> Inferno Divider. I do it over and over again in Training, but when I get into an actual game, it's always just 5B -> 5C -> 5D -> forward dash -> 6A -> j.5C -> j.5D -> j.5D -> Inferno Divider.

Mostly yes. You can practice combos in Training all day, but they won't do anything for you if you aren't trying them against real people.

That's usually how a lot of us on /v/ are, we have a good knowledge about the characters, their combos, how to use them against other specific characters, etc, but we have yet to really master it when actually playing.

I'll practice moves and shit over and over with Litchi but once I play a match I tend to get nervous half way and goof up, especially with moves like her 623D or 426D where I just mess up my timing between stick movement and the button press.

Blazblue is pretty easy to pick up. You're using Ragna? All his air juggles are very simplistic, with timing so lax that you just input them one after the other and they'll come out perfectly.

Just practice. I learn combos by doing them in training mode until I am absolutely sure I can do them, then try to pull off the combo 15 consecutive times. If I miss it once, I start over. Then I hit player matches up.

It's all about building up muscle memory. Luckily it's way easier in this game than in KOF12, SF4, or GG.

Yeah, that's a big issue for people who are new to fighters that require a lot of air-combo work.

Personally, it won't take you too long to get a grasp of it. BB is my first major fighter that I'm getting into and so far I'm feeling very comfortable with it, and I haven't eve had that much time to play it lately.

Don't feel like you have to play 5 hours a day to become remotely good, just play when you feel like it and you will improve.

Ragna has very simple combos. His longest combos are maybe 10 inputs. Once you learn them, it's just about being aggressive and knowing when to attack, how to attack, and when you back off. That takes a bit longer to learn, but there are only a few players on /v/ who could really be considered tourneyfag material, so don't be intimidated.

Depends on the bros that you fight. There are some players on /v/ who are in the high 50s in terms of level, or at least the 40s.

I saw a "/v/ bros" or something room up on PSN the other day and wandered in, and everyone was around level 11 with a few being level 4-5.
