    What now, /v/? Does this break your little hearts?

    Bonus question, does NMH even really need to be a franchise? Couldn't he just go make a new game and quit milking this memecow?

    Actually yes, this is disappointing for me. However, it is also quite far in the future. The article indicates that No More Heroes 2 is still being released for Wii, and that in of itself is a ways off. Unless I am reading things wrong, the implication here is that No More Heroes 3 will be a PS3/360 title or possibly even next-gen. That's fine with me if it's the former, as I also own a PS3.
    >> ReasonableGamer !wO7Nsz6tOk 07/13/09(Mon)13:52 No.34223933
    As long as Travis Touchdown, NMH needs to be a franchise. And I will love it every step of the way. But by fuck, he'd better not make a PS 3 exclusive NMH. I don't have a PS 3... ;_;

    It'll probably be a better game on a different console.

    I don't understand why he would split a franchise between 2 consoles though. That kinda fucks over part of the fanbase. Why doesn't he just make a new series on the other consoles? I guess Suda is a troll.

    This sums how I feel + I think Suda deserves to get some money after all the games he made that didnt sell much, you should be thankful that NMH 2 will be on the wii, most developers wouldnt have risked a second failure. He knows he wont make much money out of it but he will still do it.

    I wouldnt be surprised if NMH 3 starred different characters though.
    Also, I think it can grow much better on the PS3 or XBOX360, I only own a Wii but hey, what can you do?

Phew, the thought of going to purchase Super Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid: Other M, or Zelda Wii and seeing the NMH brand within the same glass case just makes my blood boil. Do me a favor Suda and move that shit to another platform. I'm pretty sure it has much less to do with actually expanding upon the game and much more to do with expanding sales of the game. Suda probably believes that the game will attract more people on 360 or/and PS3 than on Wii.

    I remember Suda being particularly annoyed with sales of the game in Japan. He was much more irritated with Japan's Wii userbase than anything else, so it's not really about the "Wii is for soccer moms" thing.

    By the title, I had almost gotten the impression that NMH2 was going to jump platform to the NDS, seeing as how the title did that thing they do with DS titles;

    Desperate Struggle, Dust Strikers, Dual Strike, Dark Souls, Dawn of Sorrow, Deadly Silence.... you get the picture.

    Sorta.

    I am kinda upset that it is jumping consoles, even though I own a PS3 and believe it will be multi-plat. I think the motion control on Wii really worked for it quite well actually. I believe there was definitely plenty of room for improvement that would be better done on Wii. I don't really think that PS3 or 360 will actually improve the game much. The most that I believe they will do is possibly help the game sell better. The graphics will get better, but I don't give a flying fuck about that.

I dont own either ps3/360 because I for one see HD gaming as a joke, I mean the games look alright but they only last for 6-10 hours while on my DS I have games that last 20+ hours. I also dont like to pay over 50 bucks for a fucking game, let alone pay even more for live. if it does head to one of those consoles I might pick one up if it looks like it will be as good and the first 2 and hopefully something will come out that I want to play as well.

    Indeed. There was still plenty of room for improvement. However, I still enjoyed the "high vs. low" system for attacks. I thought moving the wii mote was pretty fun for a hack-n-slasher. Hack-n-slash games and beat-em-up games both are similarly repetitive. Both motion control and Suda's own imagination helped relieve some of that repetitiveness in my opinion. The random minigames, which I personally found enjoyable, is an example. The one I usually mention is that shoot em up you get to play when Travis falls asleep on the subway. That was actually pretty fun. Zany stuff like that, plus the awesome bosses and motion control, is what kept me entertained.

    Wii games don't last very long either dude. Plus, a lot of games nowadays have online. That greatly expands the longevity of said games. While I do find it sad that solid single-player experiences are somewhat being tossed away nowadays, I am overall happy with the trend of games going online.

    Games aren't as expensive as you think either. Assuming you don't buy new games at launch, you could easily find 360 and PS3 games for $30-$40 bucks. Probably less if you get them used. I own a Standard TV because I frankly don't give a flying fuck about graphical improvements, but I still find my PS3 to be plenty enjoyable. My first console this gen was a Wii for similar reasons as you. It's well worth it though to have a Wii PLUS a 360 or PS3.

I'm fine with that. but the 360/ps3 doesnt have any console sellers for me. when MGS4 came out my friend had a ps3 so I played and beat it, same with fallout 3 and RE5. none of those I want to own. CoD5 was fun but got old after a month. I'm not too big on FPSs so there isnt much else either system has to offer. another thing is I love to buy games at launch or if I like them, I refuse to buy used games unless it's near imposable to find it new just so I can support the devs for making a good game.

    I mean, Halo, CoD, Gears, it's all the same fucking shit, with the same multiplayer, and same campaign. To say that playing the same people using the same weapons, same maps, etc. is "Longevity" is a disgusting thought.

    Like I said, you can still still buy new games for pretty cheap assuming you don't get them at launch. And you're still supporting the developer.

    Valkyria Chronicles is a great game for PS3 that you'd be able to get a whole lot of time out of. Grand Theft Auto IV is another great game that I've just recently been getting into. The amount of time you could potentially spend in that game is fucking ENORMOUS. There is just so much shit to do. I think you could spend hundreds of hours and still not complete everything the game has to offer.

    I personally love Blazblue a lot and think I'll be playing that (mostly online) for years. Fallout 3 has a solid single player experience too. There are really plenty of good games for all three consoles.

    Putting the time in to get all of the single player achievements in Ghostbusters takes at least 16 hours, but that's multiple playthroughs, so I guess you'd find that to be cheating. Tomb Raider Legend took me about 20 to find everything and do the time trials, same with Condemned 2. Saints Row 2 I spent somewhere in the neighborhood of 110 hours in, but if you subtracted the fucking around and kept it at the actual missions, side quests, item collection and territory shit, it would probably be 70 (plus I was playing co-op exclusively.) Crackdown was definitely in the 30-40 hour range, Resident Evil 5 I got the full achievements for also, but once again, multiple playthroughs... Um... I'm trying to think of what else I've played in the past few months.

My only honest gripe with it thus far is that the cops are WAY too fucking numerous and aggressive. Vice City is probably a more fun game overall simply because you can start tons of fucking shit and get away with it. In GTA IV, getting away with casual killing sprees and carnage is a lot harder.

    It doesn't even sound like you're even going outside of the straightest, most linear path to beating a game, though. You're not venturing off the beaten path at all.

    >it just sickens me that the only way to get more time out of a game is to get achievements[...]. I dont give a fuck about my gamer score.

    See, once again, that misunderstanding about achievements. It has absolutely nothing to do with your gamerscore, or level, or whatever Steam uses. It has everything to do with adding objectives to the game you wouldn't have even looked at otherwise. Would you have picked up the umbrella in Dead Rising if it wasn't tied to an achievement? Or rolled the bowling ball rather than cave in a zombie's head with it? It's all about adding secondary objectives to the game.

    It sounds to me like it's less about fun to you and more about seeing the ending.

    To piggyback off of what >>34227758 is saying, a lot of games that are designed to be non-linear focus much more on the side-quests than the main story anyways. What's wrong with a game that you can get a lot of play-time out of by doing the optional stuff? I ultimately don't really care that much about if a game is linear or non-linear.
