    What would /v/ like to see in a Soldier update?

    I want something like a chargeable rocket launcher that regularly fires fast weak rockets with a small blast radius and slow strong rockets with a huge blast radius when fully charged. Also fully charged rockets can be shot down, causes you to reload really slow and if you wait too long to fire the rocket explodes and damages you and any off the opposing team nearby.

    My personal concept for a rocketlauncher would be one that deals only half damage or so when fired from the ground, but the further down it travels the more damage it does, so on a average rocketjump it does about 200% damage at the peak of the jump and it also adds a deployable parachute (with a reloadtime similar to jarate and sandman). Could also possibly have a arc.

    Rocket Launcher: Maggot Frag-it. Shoots inactive missiles (they'd arc and everything)which, upon contact with the floor, become live and move across the floor in whatever direction they're facing when they activate. It'd be almost like a ground torpedo. Good for getting around walls and barriers, something soldiers aren't that great at.

    Shotgun: Ol' Glory. An American Flag on a pole which can be thrown at an arc. Upon landing, any enemy near it will be thrown into an involuntary "Salute" taunt. Can also hit enemies and, if it kills, pin them to walls.

    Shovel: Trench Trapper- Much slower attack speed and lowered damage, but can dig up dust to blind an opponent for a short amount of time.

    It'd be held with a makeshift handle attached (so as to be held similarly to the Rocket Launcher) and would simply fire much faster, slightly weaker rockets at an arc. That's something like what it'll be I imagine.

    Rocket launchet =Pro- Either a charge able launcher ...
    With charge do extra damage but can't cooldown ..how more you charge how longer the next shot.
    Charged shot does more damage ,faster ,more radius.
    Minus - Less damage on a normal rocket.

    Shotgun - M1 Garand pro....15-20 bullets more power then a pistol (twice) but also slower (twice) then a pistol...pretty good range.

    Minus - makes you unable to rocket-jump or at least half it.

    Barber wire -pro great range for a melee weapon ...works like a whip.
    And can be throw'n down as a trap and does 10-20 damage when an enemy walks over it.
    (can be destroyed like sticky's)

    Minus - Low damage when used as a melee weapon 15-20 .
    And takes time to plant ...5 seconds.

    Shoulder mounted Rocket Launchers, a bit like a mobile sentry gun. Engineers would be able to wrench friendly Soldiers to replenish their armour and health.

    Second unlock would be an Eagle. Acts similar to the Sandvich, Soldier can take a bite out of it to recharge his health. Secondary fire is he throws it and can impale enemies like the Huntsman.

    Airzooka. Same effect as a compression blast, so you can play rocket tennis with Pyros. Primary fire would be nerf rockets.

    Bruise Missile - New rocket launcher that does more damage the further the missile flies and, conversely, has a higher knock-back at close range. The effect being to challenge Soldiers to engage at long range, a difficult tactic, but against overconfident Snipers and careless Medics it could pay off in droves. Also, the high knock-back at close range makes it easier to rocket jump but dampens to Soldier's capability to maget people in close quarters. The rockets should probably have a bit of a speed boost over the vanilla launcher and should whistle through the air like a bomb to warn people that they're in the air or that a few are about to meet them around a corner.

    Thing is Soldier class is probably the best balanced class in TF2. He is effective at both long and short ranges, it's pretty hard to kind of figure out what he would need.

    I guess a Mortar would be good because then he would have some sort of limited indirect fire capability like a Demoman.

    stampede rocket launcher:
    every enemy killed with it will add FIGHT MONEY to you bank account in switzerland (FIGHT MONEY bar) once you fill said bar you'll unleash a stampede 4 of rockets at once

    cons: you cant reload the weapon untill you've fired all the 4 rockets

    THE FARMER musket:

    the ammunition of this weapon contains maggots wich upon impact will cause the enemy to lose thier aim for a period of 5 seconds, special to deal with snipers

    cons: it's a single shot weapon

    the pitchfork:

    scores instant kill if the enemy is under the effects of the farmer

    cons: you dont swing the weapon around so it's harder to kill an enemy with it

    I had an idea, but I doubt it would be adopted. I was thinking of a UT style launcher with 3 rockets. You can fire single, faster but weaker rockets, or you can charge up all 3 rockets for one large blast. Downsides are losing a rocket and lower damage, also can't do anything but switch weapons during the charge-up for the rockets. Think of it kind of like the Demo's sticky launcher in that respect.

    Regular crit chance still applies. :3

    Carl G Rocket launcher: Laser sight guided rocket. Does critical damage when rocket connects on the body of an enemy that is being painted by the laser (so no firing into groups and praying that you hit a body). Does .5x of normal damage for any hit that does not connect with a laser painted body. Ground shots do barely any damage at all, only the knockback is constant.

    I'd be ok with grenades to replace the shotgun. Some soldiers love the shotty, others don't. Primary should be something thats a bit better at direct combat but disables rocket jumping, maybe a railgun or something similar. Shovel replacement I have no idea.

    Demo needs a mini-nuke or something to replace the stickies, take away the power and flexibility that the stickies provide for the ability to make a huge mushroom cloud explosion. Primary could be TNT or something, doesn't detonate on a direct hit but does slightly more damage.

    Liberty - A basic assault rifle, similar to the Sniper's SMG in function. Its magazine holds twice the number of bullets though, and the Soldier carries enough for 4 full reloads. He loses the ability to rocket jump of course (this replaces his lawnchair), but gains much safer weaponry and firepower.

    It only makes sense. They shouldn't give pyro a right click and none of the other classes. The only other classes that don't have right click, such as demoman, don't have it because their secondary weapon isn't a shit shotgun.

    Soldier doesn't need retarded knockback weapons, because HE ALREADY HAS ONE. Also anyone coming with srs bsns real-life assault rifles to replace his shotgun evidently haven't been paying attention to what Valve have been replacing other old secondary weapons with. What Soldier actually needs his some teamwork weapons, at the expense of some of his raw power.

    Shotgun replacement: The Bullhorn. The Soldier rails at his team, Sergeant Hartman style, goading them on towards victory. Every friendly near the Soldier gets mini-crits for as long as he's using it. The major plus to this idea as I see it is that it forces Valve to come up with a lot more voice acting material for him.

    Shotgun Replacement - BAR rifle, 20 rounds, 120 total, does significant damage and more accurate than the other secondary weapons but shoots slow and is hard to control when you fire nonstop.

    Rocket Launcher Replacement - Homing missile launcher, self explanitory, damages like a sticky bomb when you stand right on top of it, 16 rounds total, has to be reloaded each shot, closes in on the nearest visible enemy.

    Musket.

    17th century musket with a bayonet. More range then the shovel, a somewhat higher damage per swing but can miss if not aimed right.

    The attack animation is a stabbing motion and the musket can be fired while stabbing for a large amount of initial damage in melee range. Shooting the musket in anything other then melee range is incredibly inaccurate and probley won't hit anything

    The musket alternate fire shoots, and reloads. Reloading the musket takes 30 seconds and can be cancelled by attacking in melee with the musket, interrupting the reload animation uses up ammo anyway and does less damage then a regular attack with the musket.

    The musket has 10 bullets.

    Melee weapon should be a single, large rocket held in the soldier's hand. It has a chance of exploding, killing both the player hit and the soldier (as well as damaging/killing others nearby). It also explodes if shot.

    Laser guided rockets

    After you fire you can hold the button and guide the rocket with your crosshairs, the rocket is however a bit slower than the original to both make it easier to aim and more interesting for other players.

    Additionally, it can explode if shot at mid flight and have the highest splash damage range/knockback of any projectile in TF2. It won't be weird to see a pyro jump onto your rocket so they can fly off it.

    Direct damage is increased a bit more, and the rocket also has a chance upon blowing up near an opponent of doing no damage but reducing the max overheal % to 0, meaning that that player can no longer be overhealed.

    2 rockets, probably eight in store to balance the 'search' feature of the rocket and against the heavily increased reload speed.
    However, you cannot fire another rocket while the first one is in air. Letting go of the button manually explodes the rocket however.

    For shottie, I'd like to see something that helps the soldier deal with target at long but not super long range, kind of thinking of something like a 5 clip rifle that pretty much is a more stable revolver.
