Camp in one of the houses, shoot everyone who comes in, quicksave often

Tedious and stupid, but it's basically the only way to survive. You die in like 1/2 second from anywhere closer than ten meters in OL, shit's stupid.

It's not too hard, just play smart. Watch your back, use your wits. Grenades are excellent tools for big groups. Also, taking out an entire base is very satisfying.

Snoipers are in the 4 lookout posts at each corner, there is one very near you as you come out the manhole, you can shoot at him from below or run up the ladder and knife him.

If you crouch, the tower provides significant cover.

Dude they eventually come in about 8-10, then stop and there are about 3 left around and 1 in the lookout tower

It's far easier, at least for me, to just go back out of the underground the way you came in once you've found Strelok's stash.

You can approach the base from the road and hit the exits (the one on the right isn't heavily guarded and is far enough away from the pesky guard tower) or circle around behind and slip in through the crack in the wall at the back.

Ok, bro. I get through this part in like 2min every time. as you exit the tunnel you face away from the first sniper tower that's shooting you as you come out then go left on that path parallel to the bunkers. run straight ahead and just shotgun whoever gets in your way, BE QUICK AND TWITCHY IN HOW YOU SHOOT. Go to the biggest building there which is multilevel and stands out. there's a bullhorn at the top that's probably blaring an alarm by now that you can shoot. It doesn't change much I don't think but it does help you feel safer.

After that get to the third floor and grab the box, probably you'll have to kill about 10 guys so far. Go back to the stairwell and go UP. get to the roof and there should be a ladder down the bottom if you look well enough. take it to the ground level, go along the outside wall it faces you at and through a broken fence by another sniper tower is a hole in the outside wall. take it then sprint to freedom watching for anomolys.

go to an earlier save if you can but the ak should be fine for cutting down someone with at point blank if you happen to turn a corner into them, if you haul ass and aren't bleeding too bad you could probably get away with it.

Best Game Ever

I love Stalker but there was always some stuff that bothered me, so I installed SMP v2.3 Lite in the hope that it gets a bit better and to be honestly now it's perfect

What I did was crawl into a bush and sleep (playing OL) until night, then I crept up that tower and stabbed the guard, then stealth'd my way into the base (lots of retries) and after that grabbing the suitcase and jumping off the roof was a breeze. Leaving the front area of the military base was kind of difficult (lots of hiding behind trees, but less reloading) and felt totally awesome having taken 3 hours to do the entire thing.

On my second playthrough I just shot everyone, and wouldn't you know it it only look me like 20 minutes to kill everyone. Oh well.

I think it's awesome, especially if you don't rush. I mean doing some little quest, fighting against bandits, hiding from the military and running away from mutants because you are short on ammo is just fun and actually it feels kinda "real" you are not some super guy with awesome gear you are just a stalker

In clear sky I always felt like a fucking tyro until I got to the Red Forest and by then it doesn't matter because the game is almost over. SoC was more enjoyable though.

I'm frequently overloaded with many types of ammo. I'm currently carrying about 6 different guns, 3 different machine guns that all use different ammo (which I have about 200-300 shots of each), a shotgun (about 150 buckshot/slugs), 2 pistols (ditched the peashooters but have the .45 and Big Boy) and a "sniper". Just found the gauss rifle and I'm fucking all over the place because I can't haul it with me. And I'm not dumping my ammo, and I'm not dumping my perfect condition guns.

I don't want more carry weight, I just don't want to drop all my ammo in the middle of Priypat where some monolith fucker will scoop it all up. God fucking damn.

And do you know what's worse? if you try to get past it by going into cordon the long way through the left entrance it bugs the game so the main trader won't talk to you, and it makes every stalker hostile to you.

i honestly believe most people didn't like clear sky because it was too hard for them, but damn the weapon customisation and turf battles are worth it.

My Story:

So after the 13456234th Stalker thread on /v/ I decided to buy the game. I bought it for 10 bucks and immediately installed it, while I installed it I read a thread on /v/ and somebody recommended SmP v2.3 Lite instead the usual "recommended mod list" so I downloaded it and installed it too.

Then I started the game, I wasn't too happy with all the Russian mumbojumbo but whatever at least some people talk in english and all texts are in english.

After I did some missions and I got used to the game. "Man this is awesome" That's what I thought when my first blowout occurred. I even defeated the teleporter-psycho dog or whatever that thing was to get the perfect suit.

After I got the mission to leave the Cordon I did a last car-park raid to kill all the bandits and get some weapons/ammo/money.
Well after I killed those bandit fags it was already night and I went back to the rookie village and thought "Man I could settle here till I have enough money for a good suit and that gun.. ah fuck it I could settle here forever"
When I was close to the village I heard some gunshots and I ran there to help my bros.

I saw some dead zombie(?) bodies on the ground and went to the entry close to the trader I saw 2 dead guys on the ground. "WTF is going on" was my first thought then I see something blurry in the grass I go a bit closer and it's moving, I see 2 white eyes and they come closer and closer I panic and shot my whole magazine at the blurry thing and suddenly when it's like 1-2 meter away from me it turns visible and it tears me to shreds.

I quit the game and uninstalled it :3

I just made it to chernobyl NPP for the first time after starting over again and again for different versions of OL that came out or the game crashing every time i tried to enter the bar etc etc. And now its almost over. I like to pretend I'm Omar Little in STALKER. Using only the double barrel shotgun, I travel around searching for any and all bandits I can find. When I do find some I usually hide behind cover then say something like: "Now don't make me huff n' puff," then following up with "Boy, you seem to have mistaken me for someone who repeats himself," before waltzing in and killing all of them.

I'll actively take "Kill the Stalker" missions only to cancel the mission immediately afterward just so I can say "I ain't ever kill anyone who ain't part of the game. A man's got to have a code."

At some point in the game, I'll start a war with Duty - usually after I've taken out Stringer(Freedom Leader). I'll go through Dark Territory, Garbage and make quick incursions in to the Bar, killing as many Duty members as I can while shouting: "Marlo Stanfield is not a man for this town! You tell him that if he was a real man he'd come down to the streets, like I do ev'ry got damn day!"

Also, the fact that there are no women in The Zone is very advantageous when playing as a character like Omar Little.

I've been waiting for mutants to come so I can protect this border, since apparently, it really needs to be protected. In fact, it needs to be protected so much that the game didn't even offer me a choice on rather or not I would accept the quest to protect it.

So far, it doesn't seem to need much protecting though.

Oh fuck guys. I just edited the fsgame file, and now the game won't start. Can someone make a copy of theirs for me? Or if not, tell me where the saves are on vista. I updated to the most recent patch and put all the crap for the smp into the stalker folder, and it says oblivion lost when its loading, but none of the cool weapons there used to be the last time i played through were there. I think it was because i didn't edit the gamedata value in the fsgame file. HELP

It's possible to run and gun your way through the army base after the underground.
Depends on how good you are at FPSs, what your mouse sensitivity is and whether or not you picked up the special pistol from the army checkpoint.

You have to be fast, but it's the best way to do it. Better than waiting half an hour and picking them off one by one in a house only to have all of them swarm in and surround you during a blowout.
