I buy games to add to my collection, to support the developer and to enjoy the game. I can't very well justify spending 200 dollars on a PS1 game that will probably be re-released on the PSP at some point when it won't even support the dev.

I emulate because I'm too fucking lazy to dig out my old consoles and hook those bastards up.

Actually, I own a NES and SNES, but I still emulate a lot of old games for them because they'd be fucking expensive to buy. £80 for EVO: Search for Eden? £50 for Chrono Trigger? Fuck that. It's not like the money's even going to the developers.
