Both of them sucked.

Loved FFX, hated X-2. When I play a sequel to a game, I expect the fighting system to stay the same, and for characters not to turn into whores. All the sex appeal of Yuna was in her innocence. Never made it past the Calmlands, too fucking hung up on getting "100%."

By far the gayest thing I have ever played.

I liked X-2. It was better than some other FFs I played (FF8)

X-2 was in many ways better than X, and in many ways one of the best final fantasies. The "dress-up" made for very interesting battle strategies, and nearly every game system worked really well.

However; it was a light-hearted piece of feminine fluff, and the characters and story killed the game for a lot of FF fans. These are people who get embarrassed holding a Wiimote, because somebody will call them gay; they are never going to be caught playing FFX-2.

So my opinion: Great gameplay, so-so story, overall it's underappreciated.

If the story really WAS so-so, I would agree with you. Unfortunately the story was absolute trash and I couldn't play more than 30 minutes without rolling my eyes. I mean seriously, the dialogue is so bad it's cringe inducing. Not even getting into stuff like the hot springs scene. Who is that supposed to appeal to? I'm not a little girl, nor am I a pre-pubescent boy. And it would be one thing if it was just one part of the game, but...bleh, it's the whole goddamn thing.

I wish the combat system + class changing would have been a part of a separate game and this game itself was never made. I guess that makes me a hater, but so be it.

X was better, but X-2 tried to do something different, and it worked out alright. The story wasn't really that great, but it was cool to see how people/places had changed. The battle system was fun as hell though.

The cutscenes were skippable as well.

Same deal here. I have no interest in a game that's clearly aimed at a level beneath me and not relevant to my interests. That would be one thing if I was outside the demographic, but I don't know if you/SE realized this...but the majority of the RPG market is not 8-19 year old females. It's more like 13-29 year old males, the vast majority of which have little to no interest in this story.

Because the gameplay is just normal Turn base attacking. There were a few slight tweaks, but that nothing that makes it better than the gameplay of any other RPG out there. The main focus on games like them are Story and Art, and seeing as both were worse than the original's, it makes it a bad game.

Why play an RPG if you can't stand the storyline or the characters? I mean, that's what the problem is. Especially why play a jRPG is you can't stand the storyline or the characters. That's (theoretically) the strongpoint of the genre. It's like playing Halo for plot even though don't think the shooting part of the game isn't much fun.

yeah those are teh same people that created this 'hollywood videogame' phase this gen is going through. i felt kingdom hearts 1 AND 2 were fun as well as ffx and x-2. the stories weren't important as much as the gameplay which was extremely fun (though i did enjoy the first kingdom hearts story)

Once you unlock the Alchemist class the game is pretty much over.

Loved X. Only played X-2 once when it first came out and never finished it cuz I remember not liking it, but if I played it again now I would probably like it more. I feel like the game is more of a novelty than anything else though, I wish they would have made a serious squeal to X.

The classes were ridiculously broken, a good example of this would be the Alchemist.

Once you maxed out all the skills, pots were obsolete, and there were no limit to the usage of them, either.
