That's why I stick to 2fort & Turbine whenever I can. Then maybe Payload maps. CP maps end too fast and my comp takes forever to load/change maps :(
And forget about Arena, the lag when I first join a server means I'm 99% chance to die first round, so I play a round, die first, skip around and over and over it goes.

Is it just me or does the console version of TF2 look better? I went to a friends house and tried out his PC version (alas he hadn't unlocked the scout weapons yet) and it was all unrendered and the uniforms on the models were darker (grey=black).

$400 is enough to build a decent high-end computer if you reuse parts.

menubar on bottom = takes up space, especially while web browsing

menubar on side = more valuable top/down view area, better icon placement, etc.

I've running a 4/5 year old Dell premade (ughh, what was I thinking?) that I've tried to salvage by adding RAM and a new video card. The mobo only has a single PCI expansion slot, unfortunately.

I get about 30 fps staring at a wall on absolutely slowest settings (this includes DirectX 8 mode) in TF2. Start moving, it drops to 25. Start fighting, 15.

Unfortunately, one of my RAM slots on my mobo died a few weeks back and I can't play any Source games anymore.

Shit sux. ;_;

I tried building my own recently (saved up about 700 dollars and bought some decent parts off newegg), but my new build hasn't even been able to POST yet. Sigh...

try increasing the voltage. Also, it's easier to just download software from Intel/AMD/etc. that'll overclock it for you.

I have to play TF2 from a craptop, and an update fucked up my convars so I can't lower the graphics.

I currently sit at 15fps during normal gameplay, with <5 during a close-quarters fight.
