    yo

I just bought a new computer. I need to catch up on games that I've missed over the past 4-5 years. Help.

Spore, Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, Bioshock, Mirror's Edge, Crysis, CoD4, Orange Box, STALKER, Neverwinter Nights 2, Dark Messiah, so far.

I, personally, having played the expansions wouldn't bother with them, but you may feel the need for more

Can your new computer really run Crysis?

    Sorry, I can't resist.

    What's your actual computer's stats?

P.S. You forgot Left 4 Dead.

Civ IV plus expansions if you want endless gameplay.

I forgot to say that I ordered the parts off of Newegg today, so I can't actually play any of said games yet, but soon...

My current box can actually run L4D. First retail game in a long time that actually runs.

Athlon 3400+, Geforce 6200, and a gig of RAM was my old computer. Thankfully the video card busted (capacitors LAWL) and motivated me to get a new one. Now I'll be running an E8400 and 9800GTX+...

This is my current setup. Runs L4D without a problem. Enjoy your fun games!

If you don't have an 360 or PS3, don't forget that you can also pick up some of the big titles that received PC ports. Devil May Cry 4 was especially well optimized for PC (it actually looks better on the PC than it does on consoles--just make sure you have a controller to play it with).

Anyway, I wouldn't recommend bothering with Spore, Far Cry 2, or NWN2. I also found Bioshock to be a huge bore and Fallout 3 to be a steaming pile of shit, but a lot of people actually liked those games, so you might as well see if they suit you. STALKER and FEAR are great FPSs, in my opinion, and should be given an honest try by anyone.

Also, pretty much anything from Valve is worth looking into.

IMHO you can skip Spore, Mirror's Edge, and STALKER unless you were really dead-set on playing them.

    The Witcher
    Mount and Blade
    GRID
    Galactic Civilization + expansions

    DO NOT BUY SPORE.
    I cannot say this enough.

I'm going to play Spore to finally get all the residual hype out of my system since 2006 or whenever, irregardless of all the bad reviews. Far Cry 2 I also heard was bad enough to justify not playing, and I might never play it. Fallout 3 I have played and found fun, plus I love the whole exploration deal. To each their own. :D

Is the Witcher really that good?

    Who buys games anymore?

    Well then don't PLAY Spore.

    It's ultimately a waste.
