If you're sucking, like I often do, then switch to medic, you'll help the team more that way and still get to learn the map layout.

If you suck at playing, pyro is easy mode.

Play a medic so you can be credit to the team while learning all the maps. Once you get the feel for a map and the game, play an easy class like a soldier or heavy.

you can always use your cloak to become invisible afterwards, and run away

TF2 is fucking easy to learn. I lurked about 5 threads and spent maybe a half hour lurking the wiki and I knew everything before I even got it myself.

Play as a demoman. Spam nades in the general direction of the enemy.

Play demoman if you want easy mode kills without even putting any effort into it.

When you play sniper, NEVER get on the point to defend a cap or take out an enemy carrying the flag, that'll get you killed fast.
You should always focus on the enemy snipers.

Play as medic. Shit rocks, you're being useful, and you get to learn the maps quickly and get to observe how everyone else plays.

Yeah, that sounds like LOADS of fun to me.

Play Medic or Soldier. Both are pretty easy to learn the basics of but do have a learning ramp, both are credit to team. Particularly Medic, just follow other people who look like they know what they're doing, best way of learning the maps.

Once you've got the basics just try all the other classes until you find one that suits you the best. If you're failing hard look at what the enemy is using and trying and counter it. Lots of Sentries? Demo. Good Spy on their team? Pyro. Lots of goddamn Pyros? Heavy.

Do not use Pyro straight off. You will learn nothing.

TF2: My first PC FPS

I hope you enjoy Scouts, because you'll be seeing a lot of them for the next week or so. It'll die down though.

Anyway start of as a Medic and tag along with a Heavy or two on your team. You'll learn the map layouts and you can watch other players do their thing and learn from it.

Once you've got to grips with the very basics, then you should be able to handle any class at a competant level besides the Scout and Spy. Seriously avoid playing as them for a while. When you want to try a new class just watch a tutorial video on Youtube and you'll be fine.

when you play spy always stab the engineer before you sap his sentry, your disguise stays on that way.

Well if you want to not suck then that's the best way of doing it. And it's not like you just fucking stand there when you're a Medic (you're the other team's main target so I hope you enjoy dying in a few seconds if you do stand still). Good Medics will scout the area looking for people who need healing and buffing people when there's an opportunity, as well as Spy checking and keeping an eye out for ambushes.

It's a fun class. People will thank you for playing it. And it won't be boring with all the Scouts around, trust me, you will have to learn fast how to use your Needlegun. One important rule that's always helped me.

NEVER be afraid to change classes.
If you are a Scoot, and sentries are ruining your day, don't be a dumbass like everyone else and respawn as a scout. Switch to demo, destroy the sentries, switch back.
If snipers are ruining your day, go spy and backstab the fuckers. When they get wise to you or ragequit, switch back to your main class. If they start pyrochecking, just laugh at the fact that their team now has one less person to cap the point because the snipers needed to have their spy-free circlejerk.
