Go into your Control Panel and change to Classic Mode if it's not there already. Then select Java.

Go to Advanced, then Java console. Change to show console.

well actually I'm pretty sure I was the first one to post about it on here ever, and grinded nonstop during beta 4 because it was so fun playing with fellow /v/irgins. Since beta 5 came out I've just mostly been doing some exploran of the new areas (mostly just revisiting the gold/silver towns for old time's sake) and I'm about to start grindan some more as soon as I find a spot with high level pokemon.
