46 KB Gamestop & Nintendo introduce revolutionary new concept; "Reservation™!" Anonymous 12/18/08(Thu)22:43 No.24384009
    >>GameStop Announces Holiday Nintendo DS Reservation Program
    http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20081218005236/en
    >>GRAPEVINE, Texas—(BUSINESS WIRE)—GameStop Corp. (NYSE: GME), the world's largest video game and entertainment software retailer, today announced a reservation program to assist customers wishing to give the highly sought-after Nintendo DS this holiday season. This program, created by GameStop, specifically focuses on the metallic rose, cobalt/black and crimson/black Nintendo DS systems. Reservations must be made in-person at any GameStop location in the U.S., including those in Puerto Rico and Hawaii.

    >>The reservation process requires payment in full at $129.99 plus tax, with projected delivery between Dec. 28, 2008 and Jan. 15, 2009. Customers will receive a co-branded GameStop and Nintendo DS gift card tin to ensure that special someone has a great gift to open this holiday season.

    >>When the reserved Nintendo DS system arrives, the gift-giver will receive a telephone call indicating that their system is available for pick-up. Nintendo DS systems must be picked up at the store location where the reservation was place.

... And then that GS will proceed to shove fat dick full of protection plans/crappy accessories/shit games/etc up the pickup victim's ass when they come to get it.

I also noticed how they don't include the Wii there either...

GS employee here. Fuck you. We know the company is just like any other, shiftless and cruel, but for the most part we aren't in there even promoting the product replacement plans, and you guys buy the damn accessories on your own, IN DROVES. We reccomend good games, you guys choose in the end.

You speak only for your store, though.

I have 3 Gamestops within walking distance (seriously guys space the fuck out will ya you are suffocating me). Only 1 I shop at because they don't jam stuff up your butt.

If you aren't promoting the plans, you aren't actually doing your job.
You can't really argue about this, dude. You are an employee, so you are just doing what you have to, and that is fine. But GS as a company is pretty shitty if you are a consumer. I'm sure it is no picnic being employed by them, either

I don't seem to have the angst regular /v/igins have towards GS, but I still hate the place because you don't even see if the used products are functional.

Actually, no, the company doesn't promote US to promote the replacement plans to YOU. They don't give nearly half as much of a shit about those as they do about preorders and subscriptions, which we really only need a few a week, as a store, to gt by.

Thats what the 7 day return policy is for. I have even abused it a few times for "rentals".

7 day return policy. You guys bring us so many game as it is, we don't have time to do anything but eyeball them to see if they are ok looking. If they even remotely look fucked, we throw them in the shit bin and ship them off. If we tested all the shit you bring us we would not have time for anything else.

No kidding, I wonder if that one mall near me still has both a "EB Games" and a Gamestop in it... Which was even dumber when there was another Gamestop a few blocks away.

At least they closed that one, but for some stupid reason still kept the other two.

    Any used store > Gamestop.

do you live in upper new jersey? cause that basically describes the video game situation here.

Actually, we don't really push the used all that much. Most our sales are people buying new, recently released games, not your old copy of gauntlet for ps2.

Common sense to ask to look at the disc & see yourself if it has scratches AT THE COUNTER BEFORE BUYING. The neckbeard at Gamestop isn't gonna waste his time checking it for scratches when you could just ask.
    >> Anonymous 12/18/08(Thu)22:56 No.24384498
GameStop fails for having a single shelf of old GC games but mountains of PS2 and XBox games.

Software Etc and FuncoLand Merged = GS then they got Babbages... then EB. This all happened under 10 years which means many of the leases haven't run out, so now you have a bunch of stores who were once something else close together. As long as they all stay profitable, they will stay there even after the leases run out.

The stores around Washingtons PS aren't so bad. The ones in my area don't push so much about crap, though I do miss Funcoland for imports...
