12 was one of my favorite FFs.

It was pretty good.

I never played it, but now I'm tempted to, just because I can't believe it's somehow worse than 2 or 3.

I realy liked how this game explored the open enviroment.

Game was fucking terrible. Played it for two hours and gave it back to the friend I borrowed it from.

FFXII is a great game

It's problem is that it has UNBELIEVABLY HORRIBLE PACING

I really liked how this should have been Vagrant Story II and not a Final Fantasy game.

XII is my favorite FF game. By which I mean the only one that didn't bore me to death a couple hours in.

I personally loved XII and put well over 100 hours into it just seeing all there was to see, but this may very well be that the only other FF game I've played is X. I'm always saddened when I see people saying XII should be moved lower in FF tier list threads.

The game is just an offline equvilent off a mmo grinder...monster grind, bigger monster grind, 2 seconds of story, grind, boss, grind collect monster data for all monsters even though most poeple bought the game guide which had all the info that you would otherwise have collected in the game making the collection of monster infor pointless....grind.

Honestly, you haven't missed all THAT much. The older ones are still worth playing, but don't let anyone fool you into thinking you've missed out on the holy grail of gaming somehow.

You can pretty much skip 1-5. They were good for their time but they haven't aged all so well. If you're bored sometime try picking the series up at 6 ("3" in the english translation) and playing forward from there.

Honestly, unless you are nostalgiafag for it (And I'll admit I kinda fall into that boat, as it was my first FF game) then there isn't much to see. Yeah, it invented the ATB system, but 6 does it better. And the english translation of the plot totally butchers it, not to mention that the plot isn't all THAT deep to begin with.

I haven't played the remakes, so maybe they've fixed some of the problems. Still, if you don't really have some fond memories of IV, there isn't much for you there that you won't get from VI.

My vote for the last Dissidia unlockable character. Since Shantotto doesn't seem to have a contrasting character coming from XI, he would make a great 'evil' character to add balance against her. Crazy fuck can already fly, has his own summon, and has energy blasts.

To be honest, I don't really like the game. I don't enjoy battles. I don't feel compelled to do anything aside from the main story. Most of the characters bore or irritate me, excluding Basch, Fran, and Balthier. I don't like the music(usually a big thing for me in Final Fantasy games). The story seems like it could be interesting but I hate the way it progresses. Even the camera bothers me.

That's wassup with the battle system, sometimes frustrating but i cant complain too much yet. imo, ffxii is one of the most difficult in the series, if you arent all organized or leveled properly. The summons are very useful at first, lower leves, even though you usually get your ass kicked while the target singles you out instead of fighting the summon. The reason I hated 12 is that it took all the worst parts of FFXI and shoved them in a game.

How did you get the best weapons/armor in the game? Incessantly grind rare spawns until they drop it.

Side Quests? Just monster kills and boss grinds, and forget ever having a life if you want to fill out the monsters manual.

Boss Fights? We have boss fights that are 3-5 hour affairs in our game! And that is if you are REALLY good. All the fun of a raid boss in the comfort of not having to associate with people.

I couldn't stand Penelo's design. I hate hitting the attack command and waiting 3-5 seconds for auto-attack to go off. The Licence board had awkward skill paths. Hated wasting minutes spoonfeeding an idiot AI when I'd rather just have control of all the characters in the first place.
