The only jobs I'm interested in playing in this game are pet jobs and blue mage. I hear they're all really crappy though. Is it worth it to just play for like... dragoon and blue mage?

Pet jobs aren't terrible, they just tend to be more solo oriented.

Dragoon is a solid DD class, and depending on your subjob the Wyvern can do several different things. Blue Mage is also a solid DD/support, although learning spells can be a pain in the ass.

I am so loving the update today. Field of Valor actually is sweet because you can get a good amount of exp/gil in a small amout of time. I got 500 exp plus the exp from the mobs by only killing two mobs. Not to mention the items and special stuff like regen and refresh will carry over once you leave it. Making lower level leveling much easier.

Also, these new missions are sweet and my new waifu is Lilth now.

To be fair, the story lines for the game are actually short. It's just SE put in that bullshit wait the next real life day and/or wait the next game thing to advance.

I only played this game for about 2 months because I wanted cool looking gear for my character. Once I found out how expensive and ridiculously long it would take to get the money for it, I quit.

However, I gave it another chance to bring my human thief to level 12 for sneak attack (keep in mind this was back when the game was new in 2003). When I was still not a useful addition to a team with my new sneak attack, that's when I decided that enough was enough.

Sneak attack gets you a guaranteed critical PLUS a bonus of you dex stat, so if you use it with a weaponskill it can do LOTS of damage. It gets better at 30 with trick attack and 33 with viper bite (a really good dagger weaponskill) which lets you do a lot of damage and give that enimity to the tank.

So thief is kind of like a support DD, if you will. Also good for pulling (high evasion) and farming. Not too good at the lower levels though.

Shit, I miss this game. I have tried going back a few times before, there are less and less people on my old server. The game is past its time. It was awesome while it lasted, but I will never be willing to reinvest the time it requires to level back up to my former glory.

Thief is actually one of the better dds in the early levels if you play it right. Use a sword instead of dagger because the base damage is too low. Activate sneak attack during the downtime in between mobs. It lasts for a minute. If you hit shortly before the minute is up, you can do 2 critical hits within 10 seconds of each other. Also eat meat for attack up and use acid bolts for defense down.

ah this puts a tear to my eye, I miss being a noob in this game, probably around 5 years ago I got my ls together and we walked to jeuno, all 4 of us, about lvl 10-15. Shit got real once we got into jugner, "OMG DID YOU SEE THAT? THAT TREE FUCKING MOVED!!" "HOLY SHIT A LEVEL 59!!" "PUT ON THESE EARRINGS, THEY'LL HELP YOU EVADE IF A TIGER COMES TO US" The best part was, we didnt even care to get any sneak oils or invis pots, so I was stuck leading them through the tigers and goblins.

When we finally got to battalia downs after having to train a couple of goblins to the zone, it was awesome, I loved the music. We started back on the trail, when we saw a shit load of orcs and tigers, we died near the entrance...

A WHM found us and raised us, and we were escorted to jeuno. It was awesome. I went a couple feet into qufim, but from what my shitty strategy guide said, I would be totally fucked if I did, so I turned back, and HPed back to sandy to get to 20.
