Its called shock entertainment for a reason. You see it in movies all the time(see: Saw series); I don't see why games should be any less capable of providing it. It was CLEARLY meant to be a game for adults, as the Saw series was CLEARLY meant to be for adults. Children get their hands on them anyway.

I hate the Manhunt games. They are nothing but violence for violence's sake, and games like that are the cancer killing the industry.

But we can't censor them, because that's a fucking gateway, man. First it's Manhunt, next they're censoring excessive violence in games that are actually good, like Grand Theft Auto 5 or something, and then they're censoring the tasteful violence in games like Yakuza and the cartoony, over the top violence in games like No More Heroes, and before you know it the only shit that ever comes out is Care Bears: Gaiden and Inoffensive Carrot Farming 2010.

Censorship is a slippery slope. If you're willing to give up some free speech, you're going to lose it all.

Manhunt is good because of one question it raises:
Why can't games be intended for adults?

The reigning theme behind most forms of video game legislation and censorship is that video games are intended for children, and we need to protect children; if the games aren't for children, they ought to be.

This leads to the problem of holding games back from doing anything truly risky. Children are only a very small segment of gamers around the US - the 18-24 range is much higher, as is the 25-35 range (someone will have to back this up with numbers, but I know I'm not making them up).

The biggest problem is that retail distribution is still too necessary. And retailers won't carry games marked as AO, which means that a lot of potential game themes and topics are left out due to fear of adult content. Yet they still carry R rated movies...

R rated movies, sadly, has a lot more leaning room than M rated games.

Changed all the blood so it's just weird black ash stuff spraying everywhere. When they die they just explode in a shower of that and coins. I think some cutscenes were edited too but I'm not sure. That wasn't because they were forced to though, developers just did it because they're fagets.

Thankfully NMH2 will be getting two version in Europe, one with blood and one without.
