personally prefer as well how Quakes handled the whole lag thing. Hate
to get sniped around corners. In my time, when terms High Ping Bastard
and Low Ping Bastard were commonly used, it was really cool to own a
whole server with a 56k modem and 300 ping or so. I don't like at all
how I can be shot through/behind a wall in Source games.

haven't had a lot of that "shoot someone in the face, there's the blood
decal but no damage" thing in TF2, only when it comes to scouts, but
Dystopia has it a lot with all those lights running around with leg
boosters. A shame really.

I don't think the Source netcode will be that much of a problem when
you play against AI creatures, because there's only interpolation from
one player. Of course, in the versus more, it might get clunky when
trying to shoot at hunters leaping around.
Also, you can play as
infected in the demo already: First, enable cheats with "sv_cheats 1",
then type "ent_fire !self setteam 3", then type "z_spawn (Boss monster
you want to spawn as, e.g. smoker)". |
