62 KB To all Dead Space lovers: Anonymous 10/18/08(Sat)08:14 No.21516422
Believe it or not, you are currently enjoying an EA game. The company we've all grown to hate has produced this surprise hit for us that not many would have held for possible -- not from EA at least.

However, I remember reading something on /v/ about Dead Space a couple of months ago. There was a link to an article where EA said they were going in a new direction with the way they treated the development of Dead Space. If I recall correctly, they mentioned giving the developers more freedom in their creativity, knowing that this was a bit more of a risky thing to do.

EA TOOK A CHANCE AND IT WORKED

For the love of god, people. If you don't buy this game, I don't know what the fuck you want. I'm not so much addressing the console players here since they've most likely all bought the game anyway as the PC players, who have been clamoring for a torrent all the time.

The game is good. It's from EA. If piracy doesn't go down on this game, do you think they'll stick to this tactic? No, they'll go back to their shit-familiar way of treating game developers (as with Spore; nevar forget), because they won't see a reason to take risk anymore.

Dead Space was an experiment to EA. The result is a game worth buying. As a piratefag myself, I am personally going to buy this game. If you give a single shit for all the tough talk you've been spouting about only buying games once developers start making good ones, then now is the time to act. Give EA the green light to continue giving developers more freedom and continue taking risks like these.

I would buy the game for my PC, but, I already got it for my XBawks. :(

Trying my best to beat Saint's Row 2 today so I can start Dead Space up again and try to beat it on impossible before Fable 2 and Far Cry 2 come out and I have to move on till after the big game season concludes.

Meh, EA's made some good stuff in the past.

Generals is possibly my favourite RTS, and Return of the King was pretty fun.

maybe EA realized they actually had the ability to make good games like in the 90's and started doing that again. if they can put out a new Road Rash they might have a chance of redeeming themselves.

Do you still not understand that a publisher has the power to directly influence the content a developer puts in a game? Did you even read the OP? I've been saying that EA gave the developers more elbow room to do wtf they want, which is unusual for EA. Do you understand now?
    >> Anonymous 10/18/08(Sat)08:28 No.21516720
EA is doing slightly better in some regards due solely to the fact that they recently got a new CEO running the show, like a year or two ago, and he has a different philosophy (sometimes ahem DRM ahem) towards development.

And yes Dead Space is a great EA game. Surprising I know.

    HAH that's rich.

The real story works like this: A guy had an idea for an awesome game and the balls to walk up to a producer and bet his career for the chance to make it. Producer allows it but if nothing worthwhile comes if it within a few months the whole development team just sacrificed their jobs.

It turns out good. The suits take all the credit.

    God I love coporations.

moralfags seems to forget the three generations of ' they will legalize it ' have died of old age and it is still not legal

in the case of piracy, the law works the same same way only in reverse

ultimately what will happen is something similar to the banking industry

banks were forced, by the only institution that would insure them ( the federal governemt ), to keep the bulk of their wealth in a vault because it was so easy to steal so much before the law was made... cases that werre currently being prosocuted were dropped because the criminals were the bankers who did not take adaquate steps to protect their interests

go make tons of code then piss it into the wind and cry more when no one is buying it at any price

that would be like the US mint putting complete instructions on how to make $100 bills in the internet then companing about conterfieting

this. The dev's get the blame if its bad but the producers get the glory if its good. Such is the way of the world.

I'm not interested in this game. One, I don't pay 60 dollars for a game I will finish within a week.

Two, looking at the GT review, it seems there isn't even five types of enemies...what the shit?
