Well, the story of XIII sorta was engaging, but too bare bones, layered atop an INSANE amount of lore.

XIII-2 was MORE timeline shit and stuff layered atop the already-layered XIII universe, because they sought to have a reason for fucking everything instead of just being like, "Hey, it's fucking Time Travel. Have fun."

But now XIII is probably going to layer EVEN MORE shit atop that, when the original universe was vibrant enough to be the basis for all three games. It was engaging and very well-thought-out, but they thought, for some reason, there wasn't enough to make a decent story, so they've been adding more and more atop it.

XIII-3 is going to have Versus XIII battle system, though? That's interesting.

Final Fantasy was pretty fun until fucking the last part of the game before the boss.

I rushed through IV in a few days and I would have beaten it by now, if I didn't have to go through the faggot moon cave to do whatever. The general setting is only partially flawed, the problem is the horrible writers and designers. Maybe they could scale it down to something more believable. Maybe instead of being the boy whose the hero of the fucking universe, you play a smaller but significant role in a larger war or even trying to prevent one from happening.
They keep trying to push it zomg epic that it fails. They need to do some serious and consistent world building and make a series structured around it.
