You gotta have some really talented people to make a super insane action game with magic and CUHRAZY, then make a deep story AND have a good result.

old DMC makers understood this and just filled the game with cool action scenes and fun gameplay, because they knew what they could do and what they couldn't. And making an overcomplicated story is something that doesn't fit in an action movie scheme, unless, as I said, you are a really good writer and can put those worlds together.

Ninja theory believes they are the second coming of christ, therefore they try to make something that isn't possible on their level. And therefore fail miserably.

Take a book like 1984, this is a book designed with social commentary in mind, with a clear point trying to be made. Since the main focus of the book is the commentary, it is done tastefully and has enough time to flesh out the point.
DmC, on the other hand, has just tacked on a "Everyone with power is evil all the time guys!" plot to appeal to a teenage and liberal arts college student crowd. Since the game is spending most of it's time being a GOD DAMNED GAME, it doesn't have time to even flesh things out. Thus, we are stuck with a plot that says nothing new, and worse, says it with all of the taste of FFFFUUUCCCKKK YOOOOU in a desperate money grab.
That is what is wrong with the plot of DmC.

Fucking this. Ninja theory just doesn't get the tone of dmc. DMC is all about over the top action, with cheesy dialog. It was never meant to be taken seriously. The problem with ninja theory is that they're trying to turn DMC into some thing like Batman or James bond. Thing is Batman and James Bond always were meant to be taken seriously. Batman started out KILLING people for fuck sakes and James Bond always had mature themes. DMC however was crazy from the get go. This is the same series that started with Dante shrugging off getting stabbed in the chest just because why the hell not. For fuck sakes this the same series that had Dante BREAK INTO SONG AND DANCE, AND MISSILE SURFING.

Putting political social commentary in DMC is like putting Jim Carrey character from The Mask in Citizen Kane and playing seriously. It just doesn't fucking work.
