I don't believe that. I got good friends, I'm in a good school, been working few summers in the line of work I'm studying for and I got a gf. I also love video games more than anything and if I just had more time I would play the shit out of my backlog. I agree that video games rarely give me that feeling they used to give, the sensation of something completely new and fresh. Still, some games manage to do it and yes, I'm talking about new games. I still got shitload of games to play from the golden era and even though all shitty stuff is going on in the game market there are still good developers. I just hope Wasteland 2 won't suck.

I wouldn't say bad... but they're definitely getting lazier. The user is now subject to a passive experience instead of an active experience because designers are too scared to cradle a gameworld that interacts WITH the user, not TO the user.

As soon as you give the player things to do, you're faced with a plethora of possibilities and scenarios that you need to cater to. Designers have caught on that streamlining design sacrifices a little bit of play while hugely bolstering efficiency / freeing up time to work on other parts of the game.

But then you've got to ask whether it's the designer being lazy or the producer being pushy and forcing these lazy designs into our games. I tend to think the latter however my opinion's reserved until I see the first batch of games come out of the Kickstarter funds.

Nah, it was really just the last game me and rl friends used to play together. I didn't enjoy the games, but it was like a yearly practice. We'd all get the game and chill at each others places playing them for hours. It wasn't the game that was good, but the company. They were my high school friends too, but some moved off, others got married. We all went our seperate ways, and I ceased buying shit games because my friends did.
