"Video games are so stupid!"-Women that read complete trash
>>
Why is the Da Vinci Code and Harry Potter on there? One's an adult thriller and the others a book for kids.
>>
>>158427956
Women are reading Harry Potter at 20-30 when they should be reading above a kids level.

Ever read Davinci Code?
>>
>>158428440
Well, HP isn't targeted at adult women, just like how MLP isnt targeted at kneckbeards (I hope). And Da Vinci had a ton of stuff about sacred feminine and all that, but I think thats either how it actually was worshiped, or Dan Brown is a bit of a fairy and it seeped into the book.
>>
But then again, women have never been known for their high intelligence.
Also, the only people I know that reads are reading the Hunger Games series, which they claim are the best books ever, why are people so retarded?
>>
>>158428854
Because the first book is okay, and they havent read the sins against the English language that the second and third books are. And they may just be plebeians.
>>
Women are so fucking annoying. They control anything mainstream right now. Music, movies, literature. Anything they like is BROADCASTED throughout the entire fucking WORLD to show how good their subpar romance novels are. so fucking annoying.
>>
>>158427802 (OP)

They all read translated versions, and even if they read books in English they wouldn't know bad grammar if it so hit them in the face.
>>158429179
The only people who care about mainstream shit are women, it's basically just a giant international circlejerk of idiocy, which is why most people avoid mainstream crap.

>>
>>158429130
This.

I actually thought the first book was decent. Not excellent, but the setting seemed kinda cool, government controls everything, kids have to fight in deathmatches, etc. After that it got pretty shitty, the third book was just a clusterfuck of nonsense.

And most of it is aimed at women. How many movies can you think of that don't involve a romantic subplot aimed at women?

Look at the new Green Arrow series they're coming out with. They redesigned the Arrow to appeal to women, turning a comic series originally written for men into female-inclined sex appeal.

there you go again implying that men cant enjoy a romance

romance is a universal emotion. Almost every story ever has it because it appeals to almost every person. Seriously, take any shitty college story writing class, you'll see how formulaic writing in media is (which was established by men in ancient greece largely).

women arent shoehorning romance into every movie for whatever imagined scheme you're thinking up. Romance is shoehorned in by everyone for everyone
>>

>>
>>158430445
Romance is a powerful fictional tool and has been used for millenia (by men and for men, fyi). Today romantic subplots serve the purpose of appealing to the widest possible audience. Just because there's a part that appeals a bit more to women than to men doesn't mean that women all of a sudden dominate all media.
>>
>>158430761

They can.

Just not poorly written, shoehorned, generic romance inserted into every plot.

Subplot romance is aimed exclusively at women.
>>
>>158429543
I read quite allot of children books, they are enjoyable but they often have plotholes and have pretty easy writing style.

The past part about harry potter I found was the magical world, like the candy, using magic ink to make moving pictures on papers or selecting a wand. But that got lost after 3.
>>
>>158430848

>Widest possible audience

Mostly women.

Subplot romance detracts from the primary point of a fictional work. It's almost always unnecessary and anyone who supports it is a hack.

Well, looking at the Academy Awards for Best Original Screenplay over the past decade, let's count the number of movies with romantic subplots. I'd suggest...Oh, Talk to Her, Lost in Translation, Juno...3 out of 10? Not even close to almost every, let alone even a majority. Even if you included Midnight in Paris for having a romantic subplot (It's not a subplot, it is the plot), then it still hasn't found a majority.

At leas the first one.
This opressive government forces two kids from every sector in the city to fight to the death.
The winner's sector will recieve extra rations for the year.

There actually were some interesting things like how before the battle began, the kids would have to make themselves look good for sponsors, so they could get supplies air dropped in for them.

The first book is worth a read, even though you have to remember its a kids book. The others, Im not so sure about, Never read them

This is fucking stupid. Nietzsche uses Nihilism in many ways, both in positive and negative connotation. Some of his writings are bleak and nihilistic as fuck, maybe not so much Zarathustra because it talked about finding meaning for life outside of god or society but Nihilism definitely was HIS philosophy, whether he completely completely adhered to it or not.

Reading his post, I think we had a misunderstanding, hell, he didn't ever imply Nietzsche was nihilistic but you are a huge fucking retard if you don't think Nietzsche didn't help propogate, popularize, and build on Nihilism.

Dracula was the closest thing a Victorian world could've came to an erotic novel. It's sown deep and rich with erotic subtext, which is why it's left out of a lot of HS curriculums in the States. I wouldn't say it was romantic, but it was definitely very sexual in nature.

It's still a classic book, but Goddamn people get upset about Twilight like supernatural romance/erotica was never a thing. It was and is very much a thing because it has a "forbidden fruit" aspect to it, which most everyone, men and women included, loves.

Fuck you. Seriously go fuck yourself. If you're trolling you succeeded. Nothing about Lovecraft is Pleb in any sense of the word. Most every short story is a masterwork of subtle horror interwoven with a rich aura of suspense, mystery, and creative scenarios.

I've only read Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons, does Dan Brown use that shitty OMGTWEEST at the end of every one of his novels that you expect but don't know what it is because it always will turn out to be something really stupid and unbelievable? That was a common theme in both of those books.
