It's basically this:
non-neurotypical guy (high IQ, aspergers, whatever, dunno) is depressed all his life for obvious reasons and keeps on chugging just to see series he likes end/continue.

He plays TOR a lot and has a specific set of moves he does over and over that are perfectly efficient. A patch changes how a move works and makes his pattern inefficient, and this causes him to freak the fuck out.

He then realizes "I freaked the fuck out" and the fact that he is unable to cope with change solidifies in his mind finally because it has to butt heads with the only other solid concept in his mind: that videogames are the only enjoyable thing in life. He can no longer sustain the doublethink and thus has an epiphany.

It's insanely personal, and I have no idea why anyone would post that to any professional blog, much less a gaming blog.

Depends, there are plenty of different things that can cause extreme depression, but a spur of the moment "I'm gonna grab this cable that's in my line of sight and choke myself out with it" isn't possible with just depression. Suicide is a task that requires a lot of energy, and depression makes you unlikely to want to go to the effort. He would have to be simultaneously in a highly depressed state AND have a burst of energy (or be in a state of complete dis-inhibition). As he said, he was drunk.

That's not to say he doesn't have double depression (generally low levels of serotonin due to genetic causes combined with clinical depression) or some other form of personality disorder.
