I know a lot of you are pissed about the state of video games today, it's unfortunately become a very lucrative and easily exploitable industry since the advent of mobile, social gaming and mainstream acceptance. Those of us who have enjoyed this hobby for some time fondly remember the golden era when developers strove to release stellar titles, sometimes giving us truly fantastic works of art. (FUCK YOU Ebert) It's heart-wrenching to see your once favorite companies become corrupt (BioWare) and greedy (Capcom) or just flat-out die (too many to list.) With that being said, there's something you can do about it

Money talks. BOYCOTT any releases by big game companies responsible for this abhorrent shift of catering exclusively to mainstream idiots (EA, ActiBlunder, Crapcom, Bethesdur, Ubisucks, etc.) or from their umbrella subsidiaries. These giant companies need to die, they're LITERALLY KILLING your favorite hobby. DON'T support these lazy rehashes/cash grabs/uninspired paint-by-numbers efforts causing the death of truly fun, mentally stimulating video games. SUPPORT passionate and creative developers that want to make good games for you.

Also please fund Obsidian's Kickstarter, even if you're not pleased with their current project, if you enjoyed their past titles this will help them establish themselves as a singular entity so they can release games in the future without being treated like shit by an awful publisher.

True, but I suspect a lot us who would otherwise have never played the garbage that's released today simply give in because they're bored or their friends are playing, perhaps even being swayed by reviews by video game "journalists." I've seen plenty of regretted Borderlands 2 purchases and people actually considering not only playing but PURCHASING Dishonored on here.

That money should go to the passionate developers so we can increase that small font of gem releases.

Not like it would redirect them into the right direction instead, with the majority of mainstreamers buying whatever turds they decide to wrap up in plastic and stock up at retail stores.
It's such a big industry that we can't really put a dent into it without swaying the consumers, not the developers. It's the dolts who buys it who are to blame, who keeps getting mouth-fed by their gaming benefactors and liking it. They are the people we need to convince, and sure as hell EA for an example won't give a flying nugget of fuck if we skipped their games, many people already do that and their downfall is imminent anyways.
