I can't really remember a part where it was as bad as that. I replayed Portal 1 and played Portal 2 for the first time a few weeks ago.

Portal 1 had easy as fuck puzzles. Most of them were "place one portal on the spot that has been damaged by the laser ball, and the other one on the wall opposite of the receiver."
It also had entire rooms just with jump puzzles that were mandatory in Portal 2. Add the parts where you can place blue/orange/white glue everywhere in Portal 2 and I think you have more thought behind the Portal 2 puzzles than in Portal.
