I remember all three attempts.

For Heroes it was just to knock out the really popular characters like Master Chief, then our hopes and dreams were put into Bub and Bob. Problem is it was an uncoordinated cluster fuck and people voted their interest and they lost to Samus. And our second hope, Little Mac lost to Cloud. In the end of that train wreck the valvedrones won getting Gordon Freeman to win since Valve hyped the contest promising a sale if they won.

Villians saw an attempt to coordinate around a single character, but it still all went to shit, /v/ ended up knocking out any meaningful competition for Kerrrigian setting up Blizzard's win.


Finally got our shit together last year for the side kick competition though.
