New HTML/CSS rolled out two weeks ago. Be sure to check out the new mobile-optimized layout for phones, and inline extension features.

We also added two new themes (first time in 4.5 years!). Thanks to seaweed for porting them over from OneeChan!

We are still working through a few bugs with the new code. Please report any bugs you find to newhtml@4chan.org.

I just got a new PC with 560ti last summer, and it's been doing great with everything I throw at it. Planning to get another one for SLI later this year once the prices go down a bit more, which should be more than enough for me to survive another couple years.

tl;dr: I'm gonna skip 600-series and go straight to GTX 700/800 cards in the future.

Update to 1.1.2.0, this should make a huge difference. Then go in-game and lower distance view, but up the detail view, it has less of an impact on performance and actually has a bigger visual impact. I suggest you leave distance view at around 30 and experiment with detail view and see what kind of performance you get. Also, dem shadows are hell. The difference between very high and high is huge performance-wise. Make sure to lower it if you're having performance issues.

I own a gtx 460. Since the 600 series just came out, I decided to buy another one since they were on sale for $100. One more day and then I'll have an SLI rig.

I only play games at 1920x1080, so it's one gtx 460 has done well, just couldn't max out BF3 (had to run on high for 60 fps), so maybe I'll be able to do that now.
>>
I've had the same GTS 250 for the past three years.

I've been able to run literally every single game I've ever played at max settings, and only turning down Anti-aliasing for Battlefield 3, Crysis and Witcher 2.

It's just a inside joke around /v/ and /g/.
Sometime ago, every time you made a "is this a good build?" thread, it was filled with people shouting "needs more pop tarts" as a joke. If I didn't get it wrong, it basically meant that it's a pretty decent build but leaves you with a lot of spare cash from you budget, so you should buy something nice with the leftover cash.
>>

When people compare PC part prices to Mac prices, they end up getting the best of the best (literally the most expensive shit) and they still can't pass the 10k+ dollar macs. So they would get random shit like musical instruments, tubas and shit, and like 500 pop tarts from newegg (cause they sell those you know).

I'm planning on replacing my entire rig in the summer, and since I'm on a tight budget, I decided to maximize the performance I can get for the money I'm spending and build it myself.

No experience with this technical stuff whatsoever, and the mere thought of me trying to wrap my head around installing all those parts in the case, make it all work together and take care of all the installation software... it's giving me second thoughts really.

But it's either that, or quitting my gaming hobby... so I guess I'll see how that'll turn out in the future.

I have an AMD 7850 coming in the mail because, well, look at my current card on idle. It's a fucking trooper though, still plays games fine without overheating but it's time for it to retire.

But I have a question, is my CPU going to be bottlenecking my new GPU?

Damn fine machine there.

Only possible things I could consider:

1. You could wheel and deal a bit and buy an aftermarket heat-sink for the CPU and swap that boxed version out for a OEM one, This could be done for an overall additional $3. This is not strictly necessary unless you wish to overclock.

2. 4GB is fine, But Id shoot for 8GB

I'm sorry, new to this. What else do I need?

I was with /v/ the night this card was announced. Oh god.... We all thought that conference event was a Gaben HL3 reveal, because of those crowbars being sent out with an nVidia promo package.
How wrong we all were.

if /v/ hates Nvidia for overheating, ATI having no drivers, and dell for being slow... They why do you guys constantly talk about master race being so good?

You might as well just run consoles if you don't want power in your systems.

Me? No, I don't. I had the possibility of owning one, but I passed the offer because I knew 3dfx was going to sink sooner or later.
I hate my self for being such a stupid fucking cunt back then.

>>140828298
Because master race has hope for the future, and if you cannot acknowledge failure how can you hope to improve odds of success?

Verily I knew [master race] who lost their highest hope, then they slandered all high hopes. Then they lived impudently in brief pleasures and barely cast their goals beyond the day. "Spirit too is lust," so they said, and then the wings of their spirit broke and now it crawls about on the ground and soils what it gnaws. Once they dreamed of becoming heroes, now they are [console scum]. To them the hero is an offense and a fright... &c &c..."

Yeah, I'll enjoy being able to use ~4-5 monitors per GPU, thanks.

My problem with dell's computers is their obsession with proprietary components.
Makes them impossible to service
>>

I have a glide wrapper, have a few games that are glide or nothing... but it's somehow... different... I don't know. I'm sure you understand.

Friend, after several years of experience in a computer repair shop, I can honestly say that servicing a Dell is easy with a little creativity and the right extra parts lying around.

It's different because it's not the true master race behind it all. You don't have that card which was "so powerful, it's kinda ridiculous"

3dfx had the best commercials ever.
You don't see Nvidia or ATI doing shit like this

We hate that Nvidia keeps putting out giant overheating graphics cards the size of laptops that have 3 fans on them

We hate that ATI can't fucking get it's shit together and put out a fast video card so we're forced to buy nvidia helicopters.

I have NEVER seen either of them advertise outside of gaming websites and PCgamer, In fact the only computer component manufacturer that I've seen advertise is the occasional Intel ad.

Whoops.
Anywho "Creativity" is right.
Especially on those dell dimension P4s, replacing a PSU on one requires a Dremel.
>>
>>140829930
Heh, okay, yeah, well we would've recommended anyone with an old Dell Dimension running on a P4 who needed a PSU to just get a new PC, if they didn't want that, we'd do what was necessary.

They'd be charged appropriately, of course.

Just a reminder, Nvidia still owns 3dfx and some of their GTX series of cards are influenced by old 3dfx Voodoo tech.

Also, from what I've heard, most of the "high-end" GTX cards were designed by former 3dfx employees.

Because I have a 560ti and there are only a few games I can't max out with 60 FPS, it's not worth upgrading till at least next year.
