Not the same guy here but it was Assassins Creed 2 which fucked over Templars and Assassins.

In the first game it was complete anarchy vs dictatorship. Templars believed that men are corrupt, evil beings that when given freedom they would abuse it and kill themselves while Assassins believed that liberty and freedom is good and control is bad. In assassins creed 2 they turned the Templars into disney villains who are only out for power and Assassins are true heroes saving the world from evil dudes.

People are mad because they said it wouldn't be about blind patriotism then filled the trailers and merchandise with enough patriotism for 100 4th of July celebrations.

As a Dutchfag, I really don't care about all the patriotism, but I still honestly think that ACIII has a terrible setting. Open fields, trees, massive battles: not one of them fits the feeling of the previous games.
Paris during the French Revolution would've been very interesting, and so would London have been. A more original setting, which would also fit the colder setting they apparently want, would've been Moscow around 1682.
By Hell, they could've even gone to Asia - sadly, I know little to nothing of Asian history during that time, so I don't know if anything interesting was going on there back then - as long as it didn't have to be fucking plains, pains, and auto-takedowns insome forest or battlefield.
Also, the names keep getting worse. Altaïr sounds awesome, and so does Ezio, to a lesser degree, but Connor?
I realize it would fit with the time and setting of the game, but Jesus Christ, my left testicle could've come up with a better name.
