    Since he isn't answering me (I'm >>136283178) I can help a little I guess.

My family had been fishing in the area for years and you just have to find someone that is able to get you a job or speak to the captain themselves at the dock. The worst kind of person is the one who is walking around the dock with his bag asking "Need another guy?" or "Need another crewman?" practically begging for a job so look in the papers or at little info boards in the area for boats that need crewmen. If you've never fished on a boat like this before you might want to start of smaller by doing some longlining or seining (best place to find a boat for these are out of Sitka, Petersburg, or Ketchikan). That way you can learn the ropes before just tossing yourself onto a massive vessel with no idea about anything. Out of the towns listed some boats do a red crab season in November and the boats/pots are much smaller which makes it much easier to learn how to do everything and the captains are more willing to show you how to do it because its not as rushed or feral as fishing out on the Bering Sea.

You people need to think about joining an armed service if you're that desperate.

I recently got laid off and there are absolutely no jobs in this tiny ass city that are not 'May I take your order?' So, I head on over to the recruiting center and 2 months later I'm shipping out in August to flying unmanned ariel vehicles.
That's right. I am going to have a six year job of playing IRL vidya gaems. Plus since I'll get a pilot's licence out of it and a military background, every airport in the midwest is going to be begging for my dick.

Hell, I'm even leaving behind a fiancee for it. I have to wait 6 years to settle down. If you're alone and in a basement, there is really no better option.

Very true. I'm friends with a guy who used to work for EA in Redwood City CA. He had to commute all the way from the east bay to there which was like a 2 hour or more commute, had to work long hours until 10pm, commute back, and not get paid much. He worked on the team that made The Sims for a while. Now he works for a group of people that broke off from EA and is working on a project that's like Second Life.

After my freshman year of high school, I took a summer game developing class. The teacher was some Russian guy named Gregg/ He even told everyone that the industry is something that you don't want to work for.

Sadly, at least in this case, we're not Brits. Our soldiers do not stand at attention wearing funny dress uniforms for hours on end for guard duty.
We give them a direction to watch, remind them we can execute them for leaving a guard post during wartime in a combat zone, and let them count dirt.
It's the biggest reason I didn't go infantry. If you're not on a combat mission, they need to find something for you to do, and that's guard duty.

I have a 6000 word piece on the divide in 'casual' and 'hardcore' gaming, and the effect it has had on the industy sitting on my computer.

I'm not sure what to do with it. I feel its a great piece myself, but It need a platform.

I would have to do some research before I could tell you. I've heard a lot of stories from my mother, so probably the floor where I have to bath fat people the least.

I just don't understand. We've been in the Middle East for years and you hear about humvees blowing up, people stepping on bombs, and the Valley of Death. You'd think he'd be out there shooting shit and patrolling areas, but he's watching boxes or something and posting on Facebook half of the day. I don't even know what computer he's posting from, since I knew he never had a laptop or an interesting phone.

    >Our soldiers do not stand at attention wearing funny dress uniforms for hours on end for guard duty.
Neither do ours, those are palace guards who ceremonially protect the queen.

Our actual soldiers are no different from yours really.

If he's currently deployed that's not really surprising.

My dad is a retired colonel in the Marines and he always told me it was something like 5% action, 95% waiting. As in, even if you're deployed, shit isn't blowing up every five minutes. Instead it's more like once a week or so. Even in WW2 it was like that, which Saving Private Ryan and Pacific do a pretty good job of demonstrating.

If he's not deployed, then he basically is doing paperwork or maintenance or some other busy work/processing work.
