I'm a fairly liberal guy, but, she's 16 and using a computer her parents paid for to bash and talk shit about those same parents who are trying to raise her right. She fucked-up once before for doing something similar and got grounded. I hate to say it, but, I agree 100% with the actions of this father. It is the lack of fathers like these throughout the last 20 years that has contributed to the whinification and sissification of today's "entitlement" youth.

By lashing out, he's really only exarcerbated the problem she has with her parents in the first place, which will ultimately cause her to act out even more and in worse ways. What's he going to do when she runs off with a gutter-trash boyfriend and comes back pregnant out of spite? He said she's done something similar in the past and had a somewhat similar, though lighter punishment. When she does it again, do you think "the punishment must not have been severe enough", or is it "it wasn't the right kind of punishment"? I'm sad to say it, but I was a spoiled little shit like that too when I was a kid

I whined about how my life sucked and mooched off my parents, not even getting a job, until I was 20. then my mother threw me out of the house in the middle of winter and I spent 3 weeks homeless with 2 feet of snow on the ground before my friend allowed me to stay with him for a few weeks while I got a job.

Now I have a job, am going to college, and live on my own and life couldn't be better.

Sometimes kids need a bit of tough love.

People are not equal, kids are not equal. Just because you CAN argue, reason, talk to some kids, it doesn't mean that you can do that with every kid.
The girl was obviously a spoiled brat, there's no way around it. And you can see that the father did try to teach her responsibility and all that shit, so he didn't fail her on that point, it was just on her nature/influenced by her friends.

He said, on the first time, that he would put a bullet in her laptop if she ever did it again. She did it again. He went to talk with her mother, asking her to convince him not to do that. She said he should, and, by principle, he did. Not (only) because he's a redneck, but it was by principles. He said he would do it, so he had to do it.
