Apparently at one point there was a refridgerator in DK's house that had Banjo and Kazooie on it. This is said to be the way you'd transfer items from BK to DK and vice versa.

What items? Well the Ice Key for starters. It's a pretty safe bet that it was supposed to be in Crystal Caverns and the code pertaining to it (there's a line in there that says 'ICE KEY') is still buried in the game. Nothing tangible, mind, but still.
