    I need some help, /v/.
TF2 is my favorite game. It sort of re-ignited my love for FPS games when I started playing it, and I put in about 500 hours over the course of 3 or 4 months.
My problem is, and this started about a week ago , every time I load into a server in gets to the "Sending Client Info" spot and then freezes. Completely freezes. I can't press the Windows button, I can't Alt + F4 and I can't Ctrl + Alt + Delete. The only changes that happened around then was that I installed L4D2. I've already uninstalled and re-installed TF2, so I'm sort of lost about what to do right now. On the one hand, it is my favorite game and I really want to be able to continue playing it. On the other hand, if it's broken and there's no way too fix it, I don't want it taking up the 10 GBs in my harddrive.
inb4 google it. I already did, many times. No solution.
I'll bump the thread with various TF2 pictures/wallpapers.

How'bout reformatting/reinstalling Windows (or whatever OS you're on) and trying a fresh TF2 install on a fresh OS install.

Update video card drivers, if that doesn't work, back up your files and do a full reformat of your rig. It's probably due for one anyway.

It's not worth that, even if that definitely fixes the problem.

Formatting periodically is a good idea anyway. Get yourself an external hard drive and back up your important shit, then get to setting everything back up. It's a pain in the ass and a good few hours of work, but it is worth it to see your performance go back to what it was when your rig was brand new, and you'll be able to play that game you love so much.

I reformated my computer about 3 months ago. I hated it and I'm going to wait the maximum acceptable time before I do it again.

The only thing I can think of is have you tried playing offline? (I know this isn't the point, but if you at least try it it will give me a better idea of what might be wrong) I don't think it's a video-card driver necessarily, trying cutting the actual folder out and re-downloading starting the game like that. (I had a similar issue when experimenting with custom models) There's got to be a way to fix this, because it seems like you were able to play it before. Does your computer completely black screen, or is there a message you can at least right down before it crashes? My guess is it has to do with your steam rather than the game, but I'm not sure.
