    Yes and no.

Restricting players by banning them for infringing a recommendation is absolute bullshit. In WoW at a low level you could go to Dalaran, or Shattrath for example. Everything near them would kill you, but that wasn't the point. You didn't get banned for it.

Now, if Bioware wants to restrict areas that's up to them. BUT ACTUALLY FUCKING RESTRICT IT. Jesus Fucking Christ, don't put a warning sign saying, warning, area not recommended for those under level 50 then ban someone for ignoring a "recommendation"

Flat out make it so that someone under that level can't enter the zone. don't wait for people to infringe a fucking recommendation and then ban them. That's bullshit.

In Australia we have signs designating speed limits, They usually are white, with a red circle with the speed limit in black numbers inside the red circle.

Sometimes around corners you have a yellow sign that maybe recommends going at 85 Km/H around a bend in a 100 Km/H zone. That's a recommendation, not a legal speed limit, law enforcement can't give you an infringement notice for going at 100 Km/H around that bend.

The same principle should apply here, either make it "law" that people under said level can't enter the zone or accept the fact they're going to enter it. Saying "Oh you shouldn't go here, this is a really tough area, it's going to be too hard for you." Then banning someone when they enter is fucked. Just stop them being able to enter those zones.

Learn to grow some balls faggot.

After 7/7 in Britain, people spent less than a day mourning, and were back at the bus stops that exploded the next day.

After the Glasgow airport bombing a taxi driver kicked a burning terrorist so hard in the balls that he broke his foot and burst one of the terrorists balls.

Russia has daily bombing and no one gives a fuck. Only America has been going BAWWWWW TERRURUSTS for over 10 years so they can justify their illegal wars in Iraq and Yemen.

Read the whole RPS article, dumbasses-

    http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/01/01/swtor-ban-for-high-level-looting-unlikely/

“Well, the people on bioware fourm are saying he is actually banned for doing a “flip” exploit on the planet. not because he was low level and farming high level nodes. which makes a lot of sense to me. the flip exploit: from what i understand, when the control of the zone is changed from one faction to another, all the gathering nodes respawn. so if you have someone from the other team to cooperate and flip it back and forth, you would have infinite money. the reason why bioware mentioned he is there at low level is most likely to emphasis the fact he is exploiting there isn’t enough high level player to fight for the control of the zone yet.

It is, of course, a dumb overseight on biowares part that this is possible. And also dumb that they outright ban for it.

You do play, because is really the only way to know about that exploit.
And no, read the mail, nothing of what you are saying is there, the situation is quite clear, a guy went to a high level area and loot a container, he didn't use someone of another faction to reset it or the mail will say that too.

He sent money to a low level alt.

He used that money to powerlevel his splicing skill(which has no point normally, as you'd only need to powerlevel it if you specifically want to open higher level chests than you are).

He went to the exact high level zone that just happened to be mentioned in the exploit. Out of all the high level zones, he went to Ilum.

We've been through this shit yesterday with forum posts from TOR and players that actually play on here. There are faction specific nodes that, when looted, cause a spawn for the opposite faction.

The emails are based on 5-6 stock replies that are intentionally vague so they can cover several issues.

Do not post about something when you are an ignorant cunt.

He was most likely banned before his friend got there.

The last part of the exploit is that you open a chest and get lockpick XP, but don't loot it. Then your friend who plays an opposite faction character opens it too, but he doesn't loot it either. For some reason, the chest will become locked again for the first character. He then lockpicks it again, and gets XP for it the second time. They alternate like this for infinite XP for unlocking a single chest repeatedly.
It's an extremely obvious exploitation of a bug.

If you honestly believe that he just powerleved his splicing just to open a chest or two and walk away then you're extremely ignorant.

Yeah, and I'm pretty sure a lot of the people posting about this aren't subjective at all, right?
I'm sure every person that got banned never did anything to deserve it, I'm pretty sure every person on this planet would never exploit anything.

Look, I'm not saying EA is handling this good, but just because there's a screenshot of a mail and some people screaming on the forums about it only gives you one side of the story. Do you really expect that 17 year old kid that used an exploit and got banned to go to the forums and calmy talk about it? No, they create a shitstorm that turns into a shitcyclone.

I mean, I guess I'm just overly posivitive but I have a hard time accepting one side of the story as facts, when I don't have the full story. What I do have right now, is a bunch of screenshots, some angry nerds at a forum that got banned.
Chances are, they deserved it. Perhaps they didn't, but right now I don't know so I'm not jumping to conclusions without the full story.

To use other MMOs as an example (WoW): if your account is banned, you get no less than 3 emails. One detailing that your account is suspended pending investigation, one informing you of your ability to either appeal or your inability to appeal, as well as one stating the length of the ban. And again, using WoW as an example, if someone is banned they almost always get a warning beforehand, unless their account was hacked/botted. Either way, yes there would be more emails, and yes, it is likely that OP is holding out on other emails they were probably warned in.

I have examples of other MMO's sending out multiple mails about bans. What do you have to show that they only send out one?

So let me clarify the situation with the banning in SWTOR. This is what is REALLY happening. In Illum, there is a PvP zone. In this PvP zone, there is a node to gather. As soon as Republic gathers it, it INSTANTLY spawns for the Sith. Since the zone is completely dead since PvP is 100% broken, a level 17 who got his ship flew there and simply gathered it back and forth to power level his "slicing" profession up.

That got him a perma ban. Pic related.

Their definition of this rule is so incredibly vague, you can also get banned for the following:

    >Having a bank alt
    >Having any item over your item level
    >Leveling your professions to a level higher than is recommended for your level

Furthermore, know what else you can get banned for? Buying low and selling high. That's right. If someone puts something REALLY cheap on the AH, like they want to just get rid of it or something and you buy it for like 10% worth and you put it up there for even more to get some money back, and a GM catches you, you WILL get banned for "exploiting the economy." The same goes for crafted items. If you sell something more than it is decided it is worth after you craft it, you WILL get banned. This leads to such a deflated market, that people are literally selling things at like 30% value.

Oh yeah, one final note. If you get banned, you can NOT cancel your subscription. They do not let you.

Basically there is a glitch (read: It's really not a glitch, it's working as intended).
You can keep opening something for exp.
The other faction can then open it too, and it would swap.

Bioware, not thinking ahead, didn't make using nodes level capped. They're now banning everyone who does this.
    It really is Bioware's fault.
    >> Anonymous 01/01/12(Sun)11:55 No.123107948
    >>123107673
Went to the planet, and looted crates for that planet about, what, 30 some levels early?

Granted there was no specific rule saying "don't go to other planets early", but I'm guessing if they were clever enough to know that better and more valuable loot existed on a latter planet, then they've probably played an MMO before, likely WoW. And, if that's the case, they knew they were exploiting the game, or the intended flow of the game. Whether or not this is ethical is an entirely different discussion, but the main point is, break their rules and they can ban you. They don't even have to send out warning emails, but they likely did. It's their game, and they can do whatever they want. Blizzard does it, everyone else does as well. It's in that bothersome EULA and TOS you signed when you made your account.

Let me guess, if you get banned on 4chan, you think you're allowed to still access the site? Because that's basically the same thing with their site. Follow the rules and nothing happens.

Co-operation between two factions in order to get nodes much faster than intended.

Now let's compare that to win trading. Co-operation between two teams in order to get a higher rating.

Bioware obviously didn't intend it to happen. If the players doing it had had even a slight bit of common sense, they would've realized that it wasn't intended. It is exploiting.
