There are basically two causes of homosexuality:
1) social (some outer stimulus during the persons life triggers unvoluntary change of sexual priorities - things like molestation, traumatic experiences, even strong social pressure). This happens fairly rarely, girls are more prone to it.
2) Deviation occuring during the gestation. Just as some people are born with only one organ or similar deviations from normal human morphology, some people are simply born with changed sexual recognition abilities. It's nothing inhereted about it though.

ME1 wasn't even that good. Solid world building but terrible as a video game. If it was a new tv series that was 3d and animated it would be neat. Otherwise it's bottom of the barrel. Clear represntation of style > substance.

At least there isn't some anti-romance sideplot where Shepard is some pretentious dick about relationships because he's asexual and therefore better than you.
