So I know this game is only out in JP/EU, is there anything specific I'd need to do to play the EU version with my Wii? Mod it, flash something, anything?
    >> Anonymous 11/07/11(Mon)06:31 No.116221202
    >>116221091
Yes, Wiis are region locked you'd have to mod it or import a wii from the correct region.

luckily modding is easy, all the materials you need are an SD card and an internet connection.
    >> Anonymous 11/07/11(Mon)06:32 No.116221290
    >>116221091

OP here, I just bought it off the shelf in Australia, so its not JP/EU only!

Well, it's still not NTSC which is the problem.

    hardy har har

Come on, the wii has been said to be like 2 gamecubes taped together, and the gamecube was more powerful than the PS2.

Really, Of you tried to do these kind of expansive enviroments in a PS2 game you end up with slowdowns. Like... well below 30 fps. Like in Shadow of the Colossus. And if it was a PS2 game, the battle animations would probably have to be buffered one after each other instead of being able to all play at once. It would be like FF12 where only one spell can be cast at a time.

serously.. wtf are you doing on vidya :)

fyi pal=eu,nz and au but if a game says its being release in the EU rejoice because we can play it too

also dont buy anything off the shelf at full retail price in aus even getting shipped from the uk will usually save you money

also ntsc is JP and US tho i dunno if they work on both or its just a matter of wether you can speak japanese? ive always been curious about this
    >> Anonymous 11/07/11(Mon)06:43 No.116221947
You dont have to worry about weapon upgrades, feel free to trash anything you dont want. BE MINDFUL OF THE SLOTS HOWEVER. 3 slotted weapons are nice to come by also feel free to sell any monster loot that doesnt have a red or grey ! question mark on it, as they are needed for quests.

lets see what else, oh yeah, there is a collection book you can attempt to fill in every area to find netting you some nice (and rare) gems. You fill the book via the glowing blue item pillars on the overmap. its called Collecteopedia or something on the menu.

uhh npcs WILL move constantly throughout day and night, but their cycles are fixed. everything quest related is entirely optional but nets you some nice weapon and gem swag. Agility is broken, abuse the fuck out of it

cant think of anything else besides telling you to enjoy one of the best damn well made RPG game in history and on the wii
    >> Anonymous 11/07/11(Mon)06:45 No.116222073
can someone give me the lowdown? this is high on my list to check out. its not turn based is it? but if its like semi turn based with time between each attack like white knight chronicles then fuck that i hated that shit

    >>116221947

why shouldnt I worry about weapon upgrades? not really worth it?

    Adding to this

NPC cycles are only fixed until you do some quests for them. matter which ones you do their cycles change, which can make tracking down NPCs a chore.

Collectibles can be gifted to team members from the item menu to raise relationship levels between your party.

Battle affinity is a mechanic that seems to be asked about a lot by new players (or was when the game first came out) it's morale. It's represented by the character's portrait in battle, yelling and fire is good, looking depressed and purple is bad. having high morale gives you better results on anything that uses the RNG. crits, hit rate, dodge rate.

Don't worry about crafting gems for slotted gear till you can get level III materials in Makna forest. Until then, quest rewards will be vastly better than what you can make.

You move your character in real time, auto attacks happen if you're within rage of whatever your targeting, all usable skills are all on cooldowns there is no MP resource. Position matters, some things have bonus effects when used from behind or beside an enemy.

Fun, very well polished modern JRPG gameplay.

Holy fuck this game is good, I am 70 hours in and nearing the end.The first 1/3 is excellent, second 1/3 is a bit flat, last 1/3 holy fuck this really is the best jrpg for long long long time.

Best written maybe, but best in a fight is Melia due to broken topple combo chaining.
She's your only hope for beating some of the optional bosses.
    >> Anonymous 11/07/11(Mon)07:20 No.116224183
    >>116223893

What is wrong with you? The story is the typical MAIN CHARACTER IS ACTUALLY GOD SO FOR NO REASON HE GETS TO BEAT ALL THE ANTAGONISTS. the antagonist is terribly written. It plays out like a typical shitty shonen anime.

It makes Gears look like Shakespeare.

    >>116223990

Yep, Melia is the best. Spam magic and topple and enemies can't do shit.

I really enjoyed it, fun battle system, free roaming all over the place (pretty rare for jrpgs), I liked the characters and story very much, which are much better than crap like FF13 that have way bigger budgets and dev time.
