On a side note though, mortars are useful against ``sniping`` tanks.. takes 2 or 3 shot to disable them (easy to predict when drivers tend to go backward when shot) usually making the engineer bail out to repair, who dies to your mortar , then you can quickly destroy it the next shot.

I wish it was a pair of binoculars with a laser designator instead of a deployable, though. I feel so vulnerable using it on maps where it's actually useful.

biggest problem is just that the range is just as short as the weapon you can lock-assist, though. unless the server has killcams and spotting turned off it's next to impossible to creep up ahead of my team to be able to lase things out of LoS, and even if I do manage to get up there the glare from the SOFLAM itself is going to give me away almost immediately.

I got 35 last night, but my friends are between 15 and 38. I haven't had as much time to grind as I did during the beta so it's taking me much, much longer to get the glorious USAS-12 than I expected. On the plus side I've gotten a lot of the attack chopper upgrades instead of playing I/O 24/7. Kharg Rush offense seems to be the only map where you can really use it to full effect, sadly. TV guided missiles are also disgustingly hard to unlock, which makes me think they're going to be disgustingly awesome.

As someone who has the TV missile, it is fucking awesome when it actually works properly, right now it's bugged as fuck. 40% of the time when it hits you don't get anything for it (meaning if you blow up a tank with it they suicide and you get no points), the other 40% it kills you and the pilot the instant you fire it. 10% of the time it's a fucking deathmachine with insane range (killing tanks at the begginning of the round in their uncap from ours)

For the first day of the game I basically just whored every vehicle until I had a sufficient amount of unlocks, mainly just jets though. I imagine not having flares right now would be a massive pain in the ass, but on the first day flying jets was hilarious.

Maxed out Jets today, feels good man.

Now on to the attack choppers! What mode / map is best for maxing them? 64 player conquest seems hard since you cant always spawn in them, and trying to get to it first is just 100% luck. Are there rushmaps with attack choppers?


Also why does nobody ever kill or spot the mobile AA? Its impossible to kill it as a jet, unless they are heavily occupied gunning down your wingman. I mean it takes a guided rocket / salve of unguided rockets + full burst of main cannon just to disable it. By the time you turned around and aproach again the thing either got repaired or you got killed or have a jet on your tail... wat do?

it really depends on the map and where you put them. if you're killing people then it's obviously helping. minefield kills are pretty damn satisfying, though, since you get full points for killing everyone in the vehicle plus the disable plus the destroy - usually at least ~500 points and against a full loaded IFV or AMTRAC you can get as many as 1k. it's pretty awesome.

also, they're not OP - thermals are your friend. you can get a lot of points for free just blowing up landmines with a rifle+IRNV or the thermal vision on a vehicle. all explosives glow on thermals and the shape is generally pretty distinctive and easy to ID.

you get the anti-explosives ribbon after only two land mine/C4 kills, and killing one usually blows up any others nearby. ezpointz

Under rader is permanent, so you don't have to equip it, which is awesome. And it only protects you from air to air, so it's best to fly low on the edges of the map, not near any points, so a stinger can't easily lock onto you. It seems to increase the time it takes to lock on to the same time it does with stealth equipped. I haven't tried both stealth and under rader to see if they stack.

Being in vent is crucial to working in the chopper, because to survive for any length of time you need to time both of your flares perfectly.

the TUGS only gives normal spotting assists, and it's an Aliens-esque motion sensor - i.e., they show up only when running, and the system pulses so the spots aren't going to show up 100% of the time. It ignores z-axis so place it over or under area of high traffic for best results. it just sucks hard to lose almost every game, you know. I dont care about K/D, tho its nice to have a positive one when you are flying a jet, since it kind of shows that you are better than the enemy pilots.

But when your team just gets stomped to shit, your abillity to give air support suffers aswell. I had some games on Operation Firestorm, where we didnt have a single point, the entire enemy armor was camping at the point next to our base, guarded by engineers, their mobile AA next to them so no chopper was leaving the base and the jets just went on my ass as soon as I took off.

Even if I managed to kill them it was no use, because one jet cant kill 3 tanks and a mobile AA.

Granted this is an extreme situation, but it happens a lot of times that my team doesnt cap any points and gets stomped hard, so the game ends 0-200. Sucks man

I had a game today were I was dogfighting both enemy jets at once, like 100 meters above my spawn.
you'd think some of the guys camping the chopper would notice and help a bro out, but no. after 3 minutes of flying in circles, popping flares and doing everything I could, I finally got shot down by their main cannons.

Was a horrible feeling, you know. Hoping for help, fighting to the death, only to die and watch your allies shooting their scar-hs at each other while waiting for a chopper that will get shot down by the same two jets that just got nice points off your sorry ass.

There was another time where we got locked on, missile didn't even launch, just locked on, in the venom. Pilot bails, 2 other guys in the chopper still, I hit f1 and managed to pull off a crash landing instead of a triple suicide, fixed the chopper and started patrolling with the 2 bros.

I have the jet service star, aka every unlock available for the damn thing. I at least disable any vehicle in one approach, than kill it in the second one. But you cant do that without help. You cant attack ground targets when theres 2 jets circling your god damn spawn.

And if the ~28 man on the ground, who have the exact same vehicles as the enemy, cant manage to fight them off, I would not make a difference being on the ground with them. Unless they somehow manage to backflip tanks like they backflip choppers.
