To the guy asking about Demon's Souls: It's because it takes some actual skill.
When
you first start out the game will seem insanely hard, and you will get
fucked. But as you keep playing, you get better, you learn some of the
more subtle tactics and the game keeps getting more and more fun.
There's
very little in the way of complete and utter bullshit; if you plan
accordingly and use proper tactics, you will always win. That's what I
really love about the game; it's the first one in a long while to make
me actually think about what I was doing. When I just blindly ran into
levels without thinking about my build or strategy I was getting fucked
left and right. A bit of prep time goes a long way.
It also has
really nice level design; the kind that would make a Doom 2 fan drool.
It has fantastic atmosphere, quite incredible voice acting (it's such a
small part of the game, but it is so goddamned good.) and it's overall
just really fun. I honestly hated the game when I first played it too;
it just seemed like a shitty hack and slash with bullshit difficulty,
but it gets better over time.
Also, you can get the cling ring early on in the first level; it brings your health back to 75%.
And
I apologize for every other person on this board being a complete and
utter dickhead. They probably only play DS because it's "durr hurr
hardcore". Try going into a DS general; I assume they'd be more mature
and more helpful. |
