I want to play MvC3 online more but my Ryu/Deadpool/Dante team doesn't seem to be working well. More like I just suck at the game and it gets really difficult figuring out how to land shit online. I've spend eons in training mode getting all sorts of cool shit down but it's all for naught once I get in a match. It doesn't help that I freak the fuck out for some reason when playing online, like it actually matters (it doesn't). I get angry/flustered at the drop of a hat and drop everything.

So I either force myself to do more online shit and stop being a baby, or go into training mode and start learning all the other characters until UMvC3 drops. Kind of want to learn Doom/Magneto so I can get a feel for those wave dashing shenanigans. It'll be on pad tho so ugh.

She Hulk is never used as an assist. That's the difference. If you're going to play Iron Fist, it's most likely going to be on point. Using him for his invincible Dragon Kick assist means you're not playing him on point, and when he DOES get on point he's going to die because he doesn't have assists backing him up.

I don't think "attack power up" type gems willl be too bad, because someone will find one broken gem combination for every character and then that combination will be used by everyone, perhaps with another combination to counter it.

It's the gems aimed at beginners that worry me like autoblock etc. When those are used in competitve play, which I'm sure they will be, (who the fuck wouldn't give up some meter to not be thrown and put into a hard knockdown?)is where I see problems appearing.

Doom's beam has a little more durability when he's fighting, but as an assist its durability is the same as Iron Man's (this according to the Brady guide, which is wrong in some spots). The only real difference between their beam assists is Iron Man's lasts longer and traps them in their place, while Doom's bounces them up a bit. It wasn't that drastic. His frame advantage on his specials didn't get any buffs as I recall and the only frame advantage buffs he got in AE were his standing jab and cr.MP, and they only added a couple frames of advantage. Fei Long did not by any means get any major or serious buffs.

The difference is Doom was already a really strong character and got nothing but buffs that make him much stronger in pretty much every way. The only other character on that list you mentioned that is in a similar situation is Dormammu, but him being a primarily keepaway character with slow normals won't make him as silly as Doom is. They'll both probably be in the new top tier though.

The biggest problem with the tiers in Vanilla is that there are a lot of characters who play similar roles but some characters completely outshine everyone else. For example, Doom, even though he's a really strong character, plays kind of similarly to magneto, who is hands down by miles a better character than Doom is. Why would you play Doom when you can play Magneto? Why would you play Zero when you can play Wesker? Why play Chris or Arthur when you can play Dormammu? It's not that these characters are necessarily bad (Arthur is), but there's no reason to pick them when there's someone else i the roster who does everything that another character does, but 10 times better.

That's not really a bad example, Flocker and Viscant play all the time and Flocker knows how to fight Viscant's team. He outplayed Viscant, that doesn't mean that Zero is a better or stronger character than Wesker is. That and the Tron assist helps cover a LOT of Flocker's fuck ups.

Zero is a fine character, his only problems are shit vitality and being the most assist dependent character in the game unless you can land his loop 100% of the time.

Ultimate apparently gave him some more variety and autonomy, which is exactly what he needed.

Zero has a pretty easy time against Wesker

he can just fly around charging buster and Wesker can't really do anything about it besides try to airgrab and hope he doesnt get hit with the buster

Wesker is a lot more effective against grounded opponents, which is why I have never really felt like he is that strong compared to other top tiers

For me it was because of these threads.
I got into them around 3/4ths of the way through last year before that whenever I'd come here I'd discuss for abotu 20 minutes before seeing some hot pics and then going to fap and teh fact that everyone posts stream links with players dong so well, not just mashing specials but actually PLAYING the games made me want to improve.

So until the game changes completely, which will never happen because Ultimate is coming out in less than a month, Zero isn't top tier. And even still, just because a character is good does not mean they are top tier. Strider/Doom is a REALLY fucking good, powerful team, but they aren't the absolute best in the game and everyone knows it. Zero is a GOOD character, but he's not the best.
