So why exactly do you guys hate activision?

    >Never done any online pass bullshit. If you buy the game, it's yours to play multiplayer regardless of whether it's new or not.
    >Dan Amrich is probably the best community manager of any video game company. Honest, realistic, and admitting when his company or he makes a mistake, unlike Cliffy B or Gabe.
    >Released 4 new IPs last year (Blur, Singularity, DJ Hero, Prototype. All had pretty good reviews)
    >Lets developers use 2-3 year cycles to prevent fatigue (unlike Ubisoft with the assassins creed games, same developer for 12-18 month cycle)
    >Hasn't put bullshit "you can't sue us" clauses in their eula like EA and Sony
    >Doesn't make you download a shitty service like Origin
    >Pre-order bonuses are almost always additional content like posters or discounts on DLC, instead of giving you weapons early or exclusively and segmenting the community
    >Supports games post-release with DLC and patches, DLC is always optional unlike Halo where it's required to play certain playlists (and unlike Bad Company 2, where the "dlc" is just game variants they withheld from the original game)
    >Treyarch listens to the community, updates weapon balances and holds conversations with the community often
    >DLC is always actual content, instead of just skins for weapons (Gears 3) or shortcuts to weapons like BC2
    >Wants to stop the "war of words" with EA, saying that both of their games can succeed, taking the adult and non-childish approach. EA responds (essentially) "no, fuck you". Releases more negative statements about COD. Makes tagline of BF3 "above and beyond the call".

You guys really need to pull your heads out of your asses. Activision is fine, it's EA and Ubisoft you need to worry about.

    Pic vaguely related.

You forgot to mention how they sell the same game once a year and how you get kicked from lobbies if you don't have DLC.

You also forgot to mention the shitty 12 year old community.

And the fact that the weapons on COD games are so fucking unrealistic that even halo manages to be closer to real life then COD.

And DLC is also always day one DLC, it's just maps they made and cut from the original release.

Did i mention you guys sell the same game every year? skinning weapons, maps and adding/removing new perks does not create a new game, i'm onto you.

COD is NOT the same game each year. If you actually played the games you would know that. Updates just from MW2 to Black Ops off the top of my head: wager matches, new game playlists, completely new unlock system, 15 new maps from the start with 20 extra dlc maps, new killstreak system, new and re-envisioned perks, dive to prone, etc. They are similar, yes, but aren't all sequels?

I've seen 12 year olds in pretty much all games, from Halo to Battlefield. Basically that's just the xbox crowd in general. You don't see much of that on the PC.

Lolwut? So it takes half a clip of an assault rifle to kill someone? (Halo). You've got me on recoil, COD games don't have much of that, but otherwise they're pretty realistic.

No it's not. It's usually months after release. And even if they were cut from the original game, all COD games from MW2 on have shipped with at least 15 original maps on the disc, more than any other modern FPS I know of.

You did mention that. And I mentioned the new features, and how all the battlefield fans will count new vehicles and attachments, enhanced destruction as "features" when that's just expanding on the previous game, like COD does with killstreaks and weapons.

Stopped reading here. I was stupid to buy both Modern Warfare and Black Ops. Black Ops turned out to be an imbalanced version of Modern Warfare with a worse single-player campaign. Never buying anything Activision again.

Yup, I do too. Unfortunately they don't anymore, and that's partially because the games you're talking about give you about 6 hours of gametime with no multiplayer... but I digress. Activision alone isn't to blame for that. Halo maps have costed $4 apiece since Halo 3. Activision only did the price hike with MW2.

    >Pre-order bonuses are almost always additional content like posters or discounts on DLC, instead of giving you weapons early or exclusively and segmenting the community

Activision's hate comes entirely from Kotick who made a bunch of bullshit remarks 2 years ago. Since then EA and Ubisoft have been rotating in and out for ridiculous corporate bullshit or shitty DRM.

I've been playing call of duty since COD2, i quit once black ops was released.

COD2 was good, COD3 was COD2 with vehicles.

COD4 was a change, perks, different era, last good COD.

COD5 was COD4 with different names on the perks, and weapons reskinned into WW2 weapons.

COD6 was a fucking shit fest, no recoil on most weapons, 30% of the weapons overpowered and the rest aren't even fucking usable, the only new feature was bigger maps, i forgot to mention the over powered killstreaks, seriously fuck everything, once you got a harrier you'd get a chopper guaranteed, no one shot the bloody thing down.

CODBO had new game modes, a couple of new weapons, so what? It also had reskins fucking everywhere, the tomahawk is a throwing knife, the shotguns remain the same as other games, the snipers are also the same, the AWP (I forgot the COD name) was incredibly similar to the Intervention.

COD7, from what i've seen from the trailers, it's MW2 and COD4 put together, the barret animations said it all, they were the fucking same.

Admit it, you've been buying the same game for years, last COD i bought was COD5, after that i just pirated my way through and played on cracked servers and alterIWnet and AlterOps.

You mean the DLC playlists? You're an idiot, OP.

I do have Halo 3 and as far as i know, there are specific playlists for DLC, the other playlists are completely DLC free, unless you don't have that shitty free maps they released, in that case ur a faget.

Then again it's been months since i last played halo
    >> Anonymous 10/03/11(Mon)14:39 No.112234219
i'm in no way an ActiVision or CoD fanboy. i only played the first 3 CoD games and MW2 single player campaign.

are the DLC for CoD games only mappacks?
if so then its understandable that they are avaible separately.
if they set a release date they have to hold onto it. they need time to finish the game.
then they need time to print the games. millions of copies arent printed that fast. transportation also takes time. and in this time they take to print and ship the games they continue to produce content. in this case that content are maps. they cant put everything on the disc from the beginning because they sometimes cant because its too late.

and to everyone saying they shit out one CoD game every year.

werent black ops and world at war made by a different company than infinity ward?
sure they release on game each year but they still take 2 to make them.

are there any faults in my thinking?
    >> Anonymous 10/03/11(Mon)14:41 No.112234301
Because they rush games out, plan to string content through dlc releases, and overall acts like an evil stereotypical company like you would read about in the 80s.
They kill games and developers out of short term greed.
As for those preorder posters you are talking about, I work at gamestop.
    They sent us a few.
    Just a few.
months ago. Each store barely got any.
They have not sent more after those ones went, but ask that we still market that poster as a prerelease bonus.
Oh, and they are partially responsible for that xbox live price hike last year.

Just gonna say this, because I totally saw it coming with /v/.

Before Modern Warfare came out, COD4 was a piece of shit on /v/, no one fucking liked that game. Every time you brought it up "PERKS ARE RETARDED, FUCKING GRENADES EVERYWHERE, MAPS ARE STUPID"

Then MW2 came out, suddenly COD4 was the best, or the last of the best. /v/ is full of hipsters and you all know it.

I think Acti and EA are both assholes at times.

But at this point in time, I honestly hate EA more. BF3 could have been so much more, hell, it was hyped to be so much more, and look what we ended up with.
    >> Anonymous 10/03/11(Mon)14:43 No.112234500
OP is wrong by saying that we shouldnt hate them. But I agree on the point that we should hate EA and Ubisoft even more, because what they do is so fucked up it is out of proportions. Activision says "You want to have fun? Buy our game" end of rine. Ubisoft and EA say "You want to buy our game? Install this and this and that, oh and btw you can't sue lol". Fuck that, I'm gonna have such a blast with mw3 with my bros. But Activision is still a fucking jew corp that wants to eat my money, but they give me the choice of getting fucked in the ass or not.

One of the activision guys shot his mouth off post xbox live price hike that they had made a deal with microsoft.
The whole argument over them not getting money for people playing cod on xbox live went right up until the price hike then disappeared.
    Quick breakdown on google.

Or Activision lowered the standards of the average gamer with MW2. Which sounds a tad more likely.

I mostly remember night and snow levels. Some forest levels too.

The first CoD was a very atypical WW2 game. I think it was the best one in the series.

I don't really care though. Black Ops is mediocre like Dragon Age 2, and the backing it gets by fanboys makes me hate it even more.

    True point.

Activision might buy out companies, but at least they leave them some freedom, unlike EA's YOU DO WHAT WE SAY OR CONSIDER YOUR ASS CANNED approach.

You see that call of duty elite shit? yeah it's all optional and shit, i'll bet you 10 internets that it's going to be fucking essential inorder to the cawadoody after MW3.

I just fucking know it, they're using it for feedback, it's like a hidden beta.
