And how does that matter? we are talking of game saves here. 4MB was obsolete to run games after 6 months. 4MB today is still a good size to save datas. Most of ps3 games saves are like 450-500k.

About storing games, perhaps you will be able to store 1-2 games max, but that is subjective. There's someone who needs to have 5-6 games on his memory card at all times, for others is enough to have 1-2.

data install was there mainly due to the reason that memory stick access times were faster than UMD ones.

PSP games will come on an actual cartridge, so the access times will be exactly the same as the memory card thus, eliminating the need of data installs.

How fast are the cards? Even the fastest SD cards are terribly slow by flash memory standards and get destroyed by the older CF cards. If they aren't miserably slow like SD cards going for their own more expensive card design may not be such a bad idea.

well I just remembered something. I bought my psp from japan, shortly after the launch. The first psp model that were marketed in US and Europe were the value pack ones, the stand alone package was released later on.

Why doesn't sony just stuff the saves inside the gamestick itself? it's just a memorystick.

It will come with a 2-4 GB card to get your shit started, it would be a pretty dumb marketing move sell a fully fledged media center device without a storage media.
